Report: Browns and 1st rounder for Garappollo (Maybe Yes or No or Who Knows)EDIT

Look, Belichick mishandled this situation. Simple as that. Just accept that he faulked up and move on. He should have traded Jimmy to the Browns for a first and another pick. He didn't, for whatever reason. He got pennies on the dollar by trading him to the 49ers.

All the other rationalizations people make are just them trying to make themselves feel better about how the Patriots faulked this up.

OK, the greatest coach in NFL history "just f-ed up"?

You make it sound like BB is the same caliber of GM as Sashi Brown and can't operate a f-ing fax machine or pick up a phone.

There is a reason. In fact there are multiple. You just don't like them.

In keeping with Ian's post about using certain words, I will decline to describe what I think of this post.

Literally everybody who pretends any kind of source or inside information with the Patriots, not to mention Belichick himself, has stated that he was trying to keep Garappolo.

Its the very foundation on which "controversy" is based.

Personally, if we lost value because Belichick was doing his damnedest to bridge the gap between one franchise quarterback and the next then I'm sorry (not really), he has my blessing.

So you are right, and BB is wrong. It was a mistake because you say it is.

Is it possible that this was a decision made by a really smart football executive with 40+ years of experience and that some guy behind a keyboard with zero years of experience is wrong?

Nahhh can't be that right?

Of course not but not on that trade.

We have no idea about the JAG-SF trade, because we don't actually know the options. People are going back and forth over a completely fogbound scenario.

He should have traded for something that was never offered?
Is it possible someone else may have offered more? Perhaps. I’m sure that happens in many trades.
But the trade that Cleveland offered for the first time yesterday was a first from Houston who was 3-4 and a playoff contender or a 2nd and a backup QBs from sf.
Given that jimmy g was kept half the season specifically for insurance, it would be ignorant to dismiss the value of getting the backup.
We have also seen much discussion about Cleveland being a disaster to trade with. Look they screwed up the mccarron trade. Perhaps had we made a trade with them the same thing would have happened, the deal would not have gone through and we would end up getting nothing for him.

There are just too bang moving parts that you don’t know to conclude what you have.

Stay tuned as the Sports Talk Radio banter will start soon, and these alleged comments are enough proof for the agitators on Sports Talk Radio.. they can spend the day with spewing garbage about this actually happened, because ex GM Brown said..

"Cubby Bertram" and "Super Sleuth Felger" are hot on the trail of the "truth" so tune in and listen to the manufactured hysteria over these revelations.. look for Sashi Brown to make an appearance, and get a gift certificate to "Mr. Sids".

My wish would be for any of these shows to focus on Tennessee and football, rather than controversy.
The only thing Blubber Bertrand is on the trail of is trail mix.

Those reasons are terrible rationalizations made up by fans. Yes, Belichick is a human being and can make mistakes.

No matter what, unless and until the Browns release a statement to the effect that they were willing to give up their 1st round pick in exchange for Jimmy G, all of this is just speculation. It does help to pass the time until the next Patriots game, but otherwise, it's pretty pointless.

I wish I was on this board in 2002 when the Bills GM boasted how he was ready to part with TWO first round picks for Bledsoe. Exploding heads (and threads) everywhere!

Regards,
Chris

I believe he was trying to keep Jimmy. He misread his ability to sign him to a bridge deal or misread Brady's decline. Regardless, he made a mistake by not trading him before/during the draft. Patriots could have a first round pick+ on this team right now helping them win.

Very true. I stated earlier in the thread that I don't believe Sashi Brown but I'm calling out Numnuts because just saying BB f-ed up with out offering a logical reason why is trash

The logical reason is the Patriots could have a first round pick + on the roster right now. I am not sure how you cannot see that.

How long are you going to cry about Jimmy being gone?

If there are Jimmy made threads i'm going to post my opinion.

Pointing out 1st round pick is better than a second round pick isn't crying haha.

Getting your feeling hurt because I posted the obvious is more apropos to crying.

Talk about terrible rationalizations. "BB made a mistake this time because he is capable of making them."

If that is not screaming "I am desperate for a point" I dont know what is.

You Garroppolites are a funny bunch.

I just find it interesting that people continue to deny the fact that this was a cluster faulk. Its okay to say it. I am happy Brady is the Patriots starting QB and I love Belichick as the coach. That doesn't mean I cannot comment on how this was faulked up.

That is the purpose of a discussion board, no?

We are going to the land of fantasy ? Ok then.. if he had traded JG maybe Brady would have been injured during camp by your imaginary first round pick when he got pushed into our QBs knees.. and we would have been not even in the playoffs leaving your imaginary draft pick sitting on some beach on a tropical island enjoying his first offseason..

How is that for a fantasy ?

My feelings are hurt because you continue to whine about something over and over and in this process show very little knowledge about how a team is run.????
I mean if you want to really go with that, go ahead but its not a very good look for you.

The only thing we are certain of with this trade is you are a whiner.

You can discuss what you want and have your opinion. I respect that. Dosent mean you have the first clue of what is going on, despite you thinking you do.

But carry on. Its amusing.

We are not really going to know the actual truth. But this is probably closer to the truth than any of the essays being written here.

Beli is still the GOAT but sometimes he makes moves and you're like WTF. WHich is perfectly fine because nobody is perfect haha.
