Despite all the rhetoric and sophomoric commentary, Goodell will survive and Jerry will fade again back into his little world.

What will probably happen is that the owners who have been lukewarm on Kraft may be more supportive of him as he has handled this situation in a manner they expect, if he attacked Jones then the tide might turn the other way.

Still find it difficult to understand the penchant for Pats Fans who want to eternally bash Mr. Kraft, he has made some mistakes, but his body of work make me thankful that he is the owner of the NEP...

Taping signals and deflating footballs clearly didn't have much impact, as evidenced by two more Super Bowl victories, but this pretending they never happened is getting ridiculous and delusional (to the point of editing my posts).

It happened, it obviously didn't matter in the long run, get over it.
Deflating footballs did not happen. Did you fail 7th grade science?

They don't have to care. They only need to give the appearance of caring. That would placate the fans.
The appearance of caring doesn't accomplish the same thing as actually caring and acting on it. That's the difference and most people can see through disengenuous fakery.

Well he is right, Kraft is a ***** compared to MOST people. Jones, as much as I hate him, will come after you and try to destroy you.

Since Kraft joined the NFL the score is :

Super Bowl Appearance:

****y - 8
Tough Guy - 1

Lombardi Trophies:

****y - 5
Tough Guy - 1

In Playoff (#Years) and (Record)Appearances:

****y - 18 (28-13)
Tough Guy - 11 (7-10)

PSLs:

****y - No (he was too much of a ****y to do it)
Tough Guy - Yes, 30 year adjustable rate financing available (why apologize?)

.
Thank God, we have the ****y. Dallas fans would trade places in a Houston minute.

And these were the two most demonstrably stupid faux scandals in the history of faux scandals. However, since these "cheating" allegations have been repeated ad nausea, they are generally accepted as true by jealous rival fans all to ready to believe them.

It's a classic example of Joseph Goebbels quote about the repeated lie.

I agree about the politics. Political activism is fine and arguably a worthy action for someone with money and fame. But on the field, IMHO, the game should be agnostic. It's a mistake that could cause revenue loss. But my bet is on field will subside almost completely.

Just one small but important correction to your post for you to overthink :)
Strangler: a person who kills by pressing their throats so that they cannot breathe
Straggler: a person that is last in a group to do something

Ugg.. spell check once again lol.

I hope your right about all that and it dwindles down some. I’ll explain why I dislike the whole on field thing. I watch the games with family members. Almost all are former military. Arguements break out and half an hour is spent talking about various political opinions. I don’t watch games to argue about social issues, religion, war, weather or not is good to Neal, all that is for another place and time. I watch football to escape the entire fiasco of democratic society. It really leaves a sour feeling to have to deal with those issues every game. There’s nothing I can do to right the wrongs of the world while the pats are playing.

"Imploding" is kinda exaggerating isn't it? While a Jones victory or even a tooth&nail fight could cause a shake up within the business admin side of the game, the show will go on.
Well said.
First question, exactly what does Jones want? Does he want to cut Goodell's pay? Roll back his power? Does he want a new commissioner altogether? Or is he just pissed off and wants to give Goodell a smack?
I believe it is nothing more than he wants revenge against a man whom he feels screwed him over. He is doing his best to get Goodell out or, failing that, at least reduce his compensation.
Depending on what Jones wants, he needs a pro Goodell vote tally that drops below 24 owners. Once that magic number is hit then it's pointless for the fight to go on. A change and/or compromise will be required.
I am not sure this is the case. Quite honestly, I doubt anyone knows for sure. The owners already voted 32-0 to give the Compensation Committee the authority to negotiate and finalize a new deal with Goodell. Can a small cadre of 3-4 owners now take that back? What about a cadre of 8-10 owners?

If they've already passed something, it generally requires 3/4ths to reverse it, which implies you would need 24 owners to reverse that prior vote. However, Jones wants to force a take-back on the grounds that the compensation committee lied to him. Whether or not that is true is anyone's guess. But I do wonder what would happen if the Compensation Committee simply created and signed a new contract with Goodell based on the authority already delegated to them....

Whilst I agree with your comment, I disagree with the notion that people would see through it. Perception creates reality. If people think, then it's true.

oooh, good idea. if the owners are worried about corruption and bloat, the IOC is a great place to find a replacement. better yet, get someone from FIFA. i hear Sepp Blatter is available.
.
Hint they are looking for a puppet. Goodell is a puppet. The owners were pissed off about Spygate and how it was handled and they looked for an opportunity to go after the Patriots, Deflategate provided an opening and they did everything they could to find something and justify the punishment even if it was flimsy and biased.

They wanted to punish a star player for domestic violence, they were sick of Jerry embarassing them, they were sick of Zeke always being in the news. So they used this an opportunity to find something and teach them a lesson.

I keep telling you guys but if it's not Goodell, it's someone else. The NBA is a player friendly league the NFL is not and the owners have more sway and want a guy who will do what they want. They fought for Goodell to get this power in the CBA.

Wat?

I won't rehash why there's literally zero reason for other teams to be upset with the Patriots over this.
