Jerry Jones to Goodell: Kraft is a P$$$Y Compared to what I will do to you

I don’t get the owners willingness to give up hundreds of millions to a guy who couldn’t run a Burger King. I’m no conspiracy theorist but I think he’s got dirt onthem, most likely from the concussion suit, that they don’t want out there. Maybe they are just the dumbest billionaires on earth, and they love giving 100’s of millions to someone who has almost no real value to them, but it really doesn’t make any sense.

This is called a shot across the bow. One last warning for Goodell to back down. After that, anything Jones plans to do should be rather subterranean. If he’s still talking about it or allowing leaks to the media after this, we will know if Jones is full of ****.
He's most likely "full of ****" and just wants to cause some trouble for someone who caused him trouble.
If Jones has one or more influential owners who are ready to join him in overthrowing Goodell, we will know in a week or so...personally, I'm not holding my breath.
I think there's a much longer "play" here and that none of us know what it is, but I would never underestimate Bob Kraft. "Revenge is a dish best served cold."
Pure speculation, so no need to attack it.

Owners have GOT to be kidding me with concern that Goody has not "groomed" a successor. This is a benefit, not a problem, especially given their stated concerns about bloat, etc. at NFL corporate office.
Goodell is not a lawyer and lacks any business experience. His only job has been NFL.
As someone who has started companies and done executive searches I'm incredulous that the 32 bozos can't seem to find an experienced manager with good public relations skills, contract skills and employee (union) negotiating experience that would fit the bill.
I'm gobsmacked.
^This is so dead on.

OK, so Bob Kraft is a ****y and Jerry Jones is the Texas tough guy a bunch of people around here wish Kraft would have emulated. Bob Kraft's response, or lack of same, to DG pissed me off to the core of my being as a Pats fan who attended their first game in September of 1960. With that said, I understand, and don't like, the fact that Kraft is a conciliator who values his place within the league hierarchy as much as his place as the owner of the NE Patriots. Kraft was also a realist who understood he had no chance of beating the commissioner and the other owners. This franchise and team sucked to high heaven before Bob Kraft bought it. It was headed to St. Louis for sure until he bought it. The day it was announced that he had bought the team and it was finally apparent that they would remain here was one of the happiest days of my life. While Kraft's response to DG will always piss me off to my core, his commitment to keeping the team I've loved since 1960 here will override every negative feeling. That's just my take.

We are dealing with multiple preferences for the job description. If it is measured by revenue and profit, and the rest is just details, that's one thing. If it is about effective administration, fairness with player and coach behavior, protection of the players' health, etc...then that's something else. We continually rant about the latter, in the face of lot's of evidence about the former.

The ratings problem is the current crisis, because it feeds the revenue line. The next CBA is the crisis on the horizon, as pointed out by DI. If he doesn't fix the first problem, he may not be around for the second.

I think the other owners will find a way to bring Jones into line.
Maybe someday these billionaire idiots will wake up and realize that actively CARING for the game, its players and by extension the fans is how best to maintain/grow the freaking bottom line.

Everyone’s wrong. Didn’t you see the part where jones already said this is not about Elliot’s suspension. So it’s not connected at all. I really hate Dallas. Always have. I also hate Jones and that stupid clown guy. I will love watching this play out.

I feel like kraft is ok. I didn’t like his handling of defamegate but he has done other things that were ok. I think kraft didn’t want to be heavy handed or have an appearance of being at war with the league.

The league is imploding. I saw this coming after deflate gate kicked off.

"Imploding" is kinda exaggerating isn't it? While a Jones victory or even a tooth&nail fight could cause a shake up within the business admin side of the game, the show will go on.

Keeping in mind most of this is sports media stories -- the veracity must be heavily questioned -- so this is all hypothetically speaking.
First question, exactly what does Jones want? Does he want to cut Goodell's pay? Roll back his power? Does he want a new commissioner altogether? Or is he just pissed off and wants to give Goodell a smack?
Next, just how many of the league engaged owners will go to the mat/go the distance to support the fight against Jones? Obviously Goodell and the rest of his island of misfit toys at the NFL administrative building will operate and act against Jones. But one has to wonder if the cool kids such as Rooney, Kraft, Mara, Hunt see Jones gathering up all his troops for a massive fight(and arguably no owner will have as many troops as Jones does), will these owners see this as worth fighting? (Blank is Goodell's new BFF?)?

Depending on what Jones wants, he needs a pro Goodell vote tally that drops below 24 owners. Once that magic number is hit then it's pointless for the fight to go on. A change and/or compromise will be required.

Well. If it was just that then yes the term imploding would be out of context. But. Add in all the crap storms that have gone on. Since bad dell got in there, it’s like he is a cancer that eats up the guts. I’ve seen absolute schism on an epic scale. Infighting, racism, protests, rapists, killers, on and on. Now then, couple all this with a guy who makes a Monty python farce out of every single thing he does. And I realize stuff has always went on but this age, everything gets into the mainstream.

If you add it all up, I see a rotting corpse of what football used to be. I don’t know, I over think stuff a lot.

"I don’t know, I over think stuff a lot"
While this trait will be a negative for you in marriage/relationships, career, politics, financial matters, on Patsfans it's a real plus! :):)

Boston strangler, your correct. All the stuff you mentioned is true as hell. Lol
I tend to look at things then project what will happen next given all input I’ve witnessed.

One major issue that will probably be the end of football as we know it is this dragging everything on the field. It’s a game for enjoyment not a political airing of views place. There are places for that but the field ain’t it.

It’s also not a church, laundry mat, auto shop or even shopping mall. There’s a fundamental problem everywhere I look. So, leave it to Roger, he can mess up anything.

If it's not about Elliot then how about it being Goodell is telling jerri that he is losing a home game and playing in the UK next year.

I know it’s about Elliot. That was my dry form of sarcasm. Wouldn’t doubt it has something to do with losing a home game too. That makes sense

They don't have to care. They only need to give the appearance of caring. That would placate the fans.

I agree about the politics. Political activism is fine and arguably a worthy action for someone with money and fame. But on the field, IMHO, the game should be agnostic. It's a mistake that could cause revenue loss. But my bet is on field will subside almost completely.

Just one small but important correction to your post for you to overthink :)
Strangler: a person who kills by pressing their throats so that they cannot breathe
Straggler: a person that is last in a group to do something

If this is all it took to really go after Goodell, someone should have framed Romo for something years ago lol

- Most owners think the league office has gotten too bloated and has too much power, and they believe it's very dysfunctional.
Nevertheless, one owner actually reached out to Adam Silver (NBA Commish) to hypothetically see if he was interested (response was apparently hypothetical laughter), and they've also put feelers out to International Olympic Committee members. But due to all the factors above, really unlikely anything will happen.

oooh, good idea. if the owners are worried about corruption and bloat, the IOC is a great place to find a replacement. better yet, get someone from FIFA. i hear Sepp Blatter is available.
.

Actually they could do worse than grabbing Silver's executive assistant (whoever that is)...... They know how a league should be run putting out a product that people want to watch without the crap coming from a league office which is consistent in punishment and not vindictive. (NBA that is)
