Report: Browns and 1st rounder for Garappollo (Maybe Yes or No or Who Knows)EDIT

The sports media absolutely loves a quarterback controversy.

The Patriots trade away Garappolo all but ending any chance of a quarterback controversy.

Sports Media: **** that ****. We're talking Patriots quarterback controversy no matter what it takes.

Right, look even though Jimmy may have been projected to be good, I still find it somewhat laughable that Bill traded out of conference because we were afraid the Browns would challenge our AFC supremacy........THE BROWNS

Let me phrase it another way. Let's say Jimmy G. does have the potential to be a Pro Bowl QB, what's more likely.....

1.) He uses his talent to turn the Browns into a title threat.

Or

2.) The Browns and their losing stench rub onto Jimmy and his career never flourishes.

Disagree big time. They might be a playoff team next year with Jimmy

Very good OLine. Top 1-5 WR. Athletic freak TE that can block some.

Tons of talent of defense.

Tons of picks.

Ben will be done next year. Joe Flacco. Andy Dalton.

Pretty much like the execrable Polian claiming he had a first round grade on Brady.

That was the first thing that came to my mind when I read this. I'm sure this isn't the last "leak" like this we're going to hear about Jimmy.

"I knew it all along, that Garoppolo kid was going to be HUGE! Naturally I was ready to trade my whole draft for him, but the Patriots turned me down flat. That's the only reason that I decided to head into camp with Mark Sanchez and Johnny Manziel as my QB options. Totally not my fault."

If Jimmy had been sent to the Browns he could have easily become a Bronco or a Jet.
By trading him to a stable team with a ton of cap space the chances were greater that Jimmy would stay there.

Staying in the NFC was a massive consideration.

The ineptitude of the Browns has me wondering how dysfunctional they are. This is a team with 4 wins in 3 years. That has to be more than just coaching and drafting.

Maybe the computers are from 1995. The film room has no electricity, there's no hot water. Their practice facility is a basketball court painted green.

There has to be a reason or some organizational dysfunction that remains no matter how often the players and coaches are changed.

Its a mess 100% but excluding QB they gotta pretty nice team believe it or not.

That FO has held that team back for decades.

No matter what, unless and until the Browns release a statement to the effect that they were willing to give up their 1st round pick in exchange for Jimmy G, all of this is just speculation. It does help to pass the time until the next Patriots game, but otherwise, it's pretty pointless.

Division Playoff game coming up. GOAT under center.

So of course we're talking mostly about the backup QB who got traded to San Fran after playing a game and a half of regular season football.

wtf

This is like dealing with a terrible fantasy owner after you trade a guy. "Oh I would have given you X, Y, and Z - why didn’t you call me??" Yeah sure buddy whatever you say.
I guess the Browns phone doesn’t make outgoing calls? This would explain a lot about the state of that franchise.

They love a Patriots “controversy,” to the point where they make it up if necessary. Roethlisberger came out and blamed his coaches after the NE loss, said his OC is such a **** that they need a mediator between them, and then his OC gets drunk and beaten up in a Pittsburgh bar, and the big story.is...

Tom Brady’s personal trainer has to treat players on the other side of the parking lot at Patriot place!!!!

Even if they did release a statement I'd be skeptical.

Stay tuned as the Sports Talk Radio banter will start soon, and these alleged comments are enough proof for the agitators on Sports Talk Radio.. they can spend the day with spewing garbage about this actually happened, because ex GM Brown said..

"Cubby Bertram" and "Super Sleuth Felger" are hot on the trail of the "truth" so tune in and listen to the manufactured hysteria over these revelations.. look for Sashi Brown to make an appearance, and get a gift certificate to "Mr. Sids".

My wish would be for any of these shows to focus on Tennessee and football, rather than controversy.

Int tune into Touchole and Rich then. They're having one of their laugh-thons mocking sources they have within the Patriots. Yes everything Bill, Brady and Belichick says is a lie. Everything their sources say that defends the trade is a lie. The only thing they believe is when their sources say something that can be stretched to fit Touchole's narrative.

Oh my gods, people:

There's several more drafts before Brady retires in which they can draft his replacement. Good gods, Jimmy's won, what? 6 games in his career. And couldn't even complete another one because he took a stupid chance on a play outside the pocket and hurt his shoulder.

Look, Belichick mishandled this situation. Simple as that. Just accept that he faulked up and move on. He should have traded Jimmy to the Browns for a first and another pick. He didn't, for whatever reason. He got pennies on the dollar by trading him to the 49ers.

All the other rationalizations people make are just them trying to make themselves feel better about how the Patriots faulked this up.

there is some logic to it......trade him to the Browns and Jimmy decides after the season that he's not playing for the Browns......and then gets tagged and goes off and signs a deal with someone like ...... the Broncos

I'm sorry......the 4th pick is not worth that

He did not mishandle anything. You sound like Felger or Mazz. Let's punish BB for being a brilliant GM and drafting a stud who may or may not have been the heir here, just because Brady is a HOF QB and still playing well.

lmao

BB cannot control how dumb most NFL franchises are. Cleveland has no issues drafting Manziel or throwing away draft picks left and right and they won't offer up 2 1sts minimum to solve their 15+ year QB problem?

How does that make sense?

I could walk into any of these dumb franchises today, work for free, and do a better job than these unqualified morons have done.

The other thing is, more so than ROI on JimmyG, he was more concerned with making sure he would not spend the next 10 years traumatizing the Pats as a QB. So, his trading partners were really relegated to the NFC.

He did nothing wrong other than be a brilliant GM, protect the team be trying to make sure he had a Brady replacement if he needed it, saved about 3-4 mil per year in 2014, 2015 and 2016 up against the cap as opposed to using a veteran back up QB, and helped his team win 2 SBs in 3 years.

If you don't think BB drafted JimmyG to light a fire under Brady, I cannot help you at this point. Brady's postseasons have been much better since BB drafted JimmyG, as opposed to before.

So you are right, and BB is wrong. It was a mistake because you say it is.

Is it possible that this was a decision made by a really smart football executive with 40+ years of experience and that some guy behind a keyboard with zero years of experience is wrong?

Nahhh can't be that right?
