No Gilmore, No Rowe at Practice (Weds) [wk 7 vs Atl injury reports & updates]

From a mental aspect, if there is one thing that sets Patriots apart from rest of the league, it is that they are consistent. I am not talking about performance on defense or offense but we will our way to playoffs every year and that is hard to do in this league.
Even with terrible defenses we have made playoffs before. That gives me hope this season.
Having said that, we need to work better on offense as well with play calling and getting everyone involved etc. How much our defense can improve will dictate how deep we go into playoffs. I just hope we don't suffer any more injuries.
I trust BB to get this team to play the way he wants as the season progresses.

From a Falcons' perspective, historically, team coming off a SB loss hasn't really played well the following season (unless they are the Patriots ofcourse). They beat a good Packers team at home but have struggled to find rhythm and execute consistently. They didn't fall off a cliff like the Panthers did in 2016 but are starting to fade. They may still make playoffs but they don't scare me at the moment even with our defense being bad.

I do not understand or can't get into the Xs and Os/matchups like most people on this forum do. But I have a good feeling about this game. We will not be perfect but will find a way to win. End of the day it's not about shutting out the opponents but scoring more than them. I believe we will get it done.

Pats have allowed 300+ yards to everyone...could Ryan eclipse 400? More dangerous is the thought of Pats giving up something like 10/14 3d down conversions...
I blame Bullschitt concussion protocol...i bet pats lose more games to this crap than any team this season

They don't need the spot? They have 3 healthy Cbs and 1 of those is a special teamer. If one goes down they are f*****.
He could still sign someone, but I am skeptical. Langi occupies McClellin's roster spot. If Rowe or Gilmore were not expected to return, then they would place them on IR and sign a replacement. Since they are expected to return, signing a replacement would require that they create another roster spot when Rowe/Gilmore return. In other words, if they signed a PS player for Sunday, they would have to release that player when Rowe/Gilmore return. I suppose BB does not want to expose that player to waivers and thinks he can survive Sunday.

Because someone tricked Gilmore into getting a concussion and having symptoms to keep him out?

You are going to be so disappointed when the Patriots win this game. Hopefully for your sake Atlanta can throw up some meaningless yards for you to cry about.

Far healthier teams on defense, they have better defenses which helped them beat Atlanta. Unless we win 56-52, we have no chance against that offense with a special team player as CB 2 and our 4th CB as CB 3. Also we don’t get the pressure Buffalo and Miami get on QBs. So Ryan will have plenty of time. Sets up for a very bad game for our D. Better front 7s and healthier DBs helped them beat Atlanta.

And neither of those Defenses are holding the Pats to 17 at home. The Falcons aren’t playing like last years Falcons, so why is it to be expected we give up 50? You and the other dozen posters calling for the Falcons offense to blowout out this defense should just not bother watching on Sunday since you’re all so convinced you know what will happen.

The Patriots defense isn’t playing great, but it’s attempting to build on games where they only gave up 14 & 17. The way some here are doom and gloom actually makes you appreciate at how they held drew Brees and co to only 20, in New Orleans, when they just dropped 52 last week. I fully expect more improvement from this defense.

Sigh. Gonna be a while before we see Rowe again. I hope they don't need his roster spot before he returns.

Yeah, thats what it seems like. I just read this clown wasn't at practice today. How the hell could he concus himself badly enough to miss two weeks?

kelce had a concussion...played 4 days later.

If there was a corner that they wanted to activate or sign, then they would do so.
If there was such a player, then a roster decision would need to be made, probably with Langi. In fact, the team might decide to activate someone from the Practice Squad on Saturday if they want any of them active for the game. If like last week, such a corner wouldn't be active, then there is no reason to activate one.

BOTTOM LINE
We have our backups on the Practice Squad if Belichick wants to choose that option. If an addition corner needs to be added because one of the injured corners will be out for awhile, then Belichick will choose whether to sign to trade for a JAG or make a serious.

There are two factors: the projected health of Rowe and Gilmore, and the quality of play of Bademosi and Jones. If both Rowe and Gilmore are expected back after the bye, then the Practice Squad players provide the needed backup. After all, we now know that our #5 corner can play a bit if needed.

It's almost certain that practice squader CB Lewis will get the call prior to Sunday's game, unless you believe that they'll roll the dice again with only 3 CBs (I definitely don't).

Doesn't sound like Rowe is coming back until at least after the bye, at the very earliest.

Makes no sense to sign players to huge contracts if one small injury can end their career.

Then I guess NE should cut all the starters and replace them with minimum spend players. Because "one small injury" can end any player's career.

If they sign Lewis they are likely to lose him if they release him. Therefore, they would have to keep him on the roster. They could release Harris, but that would weaken another thin position that lost Langi and has Roberts hobbled. If you sign someone, how will you create a spot for him, keeping in mind McClellin and Valentine also will need roster spots?

Well, Langi this week. I'm skeptical as to whether or not Rowe will be back. I guess we'll find out soon enough, but I have a hard time believing that Belichick will go into another game (not the Jets) where one injury would force them back into the 4 safety dime set, leaving only 2 healthy CBs. I suppose any news on Gilmore could be helpful in attempting to make the decision. If he doesn't activate Lewis, that could mean that he thinks Gilmore will be back soon.

Release Jordan Richards is the easiest answer I can think of.
Would be popular here but doesn't appear to align with BBs thinking. Richards plays on most of the STs and saw 35 snaps on D Sunday.

The fact that they have not IR'd Rowe means they are still holding out hope for his return. An injury to a CB against Jones et al. is discomforting to say the least, but don't you think it is more likely they would use McCourty in a CB role before Lewis (or another PS signing)? If so, the concern would really be 2 CB injuries, which is a more reasonable gamble. I guess we'll find out tomorrow.
