If what Mary Cabot says is true, would you still deal Jimmy G.?

  • Yes. I would take whatever I can get, especially if it includes the #12 overall pick

  • Perhaps, but their offer has to include a couple more picks, including a 2nd rounder. Or NO DEAL

  • No. Jimmy G will still be in New England if the compensation does not include multiple 1's

I don't get why everyone is in a panic to trade JG. Has everyone forgotten what it's like to root for a team without a QB? It's the equivalent of neutering your team. As good as the Pats roster is, they would be lucky to get 8 & 8 with Brisset at QB.

Brady is 40. All the guacamole ice cream in the world won't beat Father Time. JG is as good as any under 30 QB in the league and positions the Pats to be perennial SuperBowl contenders for the next decade. Trading him for anything less than another franchise QB would be the dumbest thing the Pats could do.

LMAO

"The Dumbest thing...." coming from the guy who wants them to move on from the very QB who has made Patriot fans "forget what it's like to not have a QB," let alone the GOAT.

I'll be looking forward to watching you and the rest of the Kellerman's move the goalposts after Brady has an MVP season next year.

I agree on Brady but I'll be bummed if they don't get a first for Garrapolo. I think he could turn into a good QB I just don't get the certainty so many seem to have that he's a lock to be great. I would rather see them hang onto him for next season than fold for 2nd round picks.

At this point this seems like a poker game between Cleveland and New England and I'll just go with Belichick to take the pot.

Oh ya Belichick and the Browns are definitely playing some poker right now. Been a good amount of posturing by both sides.

My guess is Browns are offering 3 of their 2nd rounders (remember the Osweiler deal brought them anotherr 2nd rounder in '18), they now have 6 2nd round picks over the next 2 draft, 3 this year and 3 next year and I think Belichick is looking for a deal that involves #12 and 2 of their 2nd rounders

I'll be bummed if they don't at least get the #12 out of it. And I really don't get why anyone here would want to trade Garrapolo to Houston, you don't fix QB for a conference contender.

QBs are the most important player on the field. They are responsible for so much, that if you don't have a good one, then you aren't going to win games. The best teams in the league have the best QBs.

I don't know if JAG is THE guy, but if he is, the Browns would be smart to trade their entire draft for him. That's how impactful a quality QB is.

If they're not sure he is, then they should use all those draft picks and build a quality team, then hope a marquee name at QB is available in the next few years via trade, FA, or the draft.

Good Lord. The guy played 5 quarters alongside the best team in the NFL and you have already anointed him as good as any QB under 30. Gimme a break.

Russell Wilson has a Super Bowl championship already under his belt which he led his team to. Derek Carr is arguably even better. Cam Newton was an MVP. Marcus Mariota very quietly had a damn good 2016.

Jimmy Garoppolo played about 6 quarters. Then got hurt.

JAG to Houston would be helping out some of our strongest competition. Wouldn't want to do that. Brock was so bad last year, and they still did really well. Give that team a good QB, and they become a frightening squad to match up against.

Oh ya definitely want that #12 pick but then again he's only played 5 1/2 quarters so Cleveland if they finally have brains can sit there keep their 9 picks in the 1st and 2nd round the next 2 years, use them to strengthen the offense and defense, play Kessler for the year and probably be a top 10 pick again and then go after Garoppolo in FA because Brady isn't done after this year and Pats won't franchise him and he isn't going to take an extension.

Agreed.

Perspective, people.
Both Wilson AND Brady each WON a Super Bowl and yet post win, many NFL "experts" and many Patsfans at that time doubted their ability to be considered true Franchise QBs.

Given that much playing time PLUS their extraordinary success, yet there was this widespread skepticism.
NOW do folks see why NFL owners & GMs are simply behaving as usual being wary of tossing #1 picks at a guy who played 6 quarters of NFL ball???

Maybe Draft Day Bill will come to his senses and take #12 and a third and a second next year. Which I think is fair compensation for Jimmy.

There was no way in hell they were going to give up #1. And 2 first rounders lol. Honestly if anyone ever even suggested the Pats pay something like this for a player everyone here would laugh. Not sure why the Browns would do it no matter how desperate they are.

So if Bill doesn't take what YOU think is fair, then he hasn't come to his senses?

And your expertise is based on what exactly?

Going into camp, we will have depth at every position and that will not be the case if we trade jimmy.

I think bb hangs onto jimmy unless he has a plan b at qb not named jacoby.

Because they can't. Because of the Implication.
That reminds me, while re-watching the Super Bowl I found this clip of Brady at the start of the fourth

Pressure comes on draft day.

I can't wait to get the Falcons into a high pressure situation where they will make rash decisions based on fear.

You are correct in that no one knows if Jimmy will be gr8.

From what I have seen with the rumored compensation from the Browns though, it looks like the Browns are wanting to buy low so there is no risk to them if he busts, but they get all of the potential upside if Jimmy is the real deal.

For that reason I think maybe higher future picks should be in play based on performance.
