Brady on playing for another team...

I know Brady is the GOAT and all, but at one point or another it seemed crazy to think of Montana, Peyton, and Favre wearing different uniforms than the ones they were accustomed to.

Jordan even wore a Wizards jersey (yikes)

Brady and his father have both acknowledged in the past more than once the real possibility of ending his career elsewhere.
I always thought it was a possibility, however, so close to the end, no one wants to see that (except maybe every GM in the NFL not named Belichick).

I guarantee you that as much respect as Belichick has for Brady, Bill knows in exactly what circumstances he might trade Brady, and in exactly what circumstances he will push Brady out of the starting quarterback job. He's too smart not to have an idea of what it will take for Brady to lose his job and a tentative plan of action for how to manage the transition..

Brady should retire after this season. There comes a time where longevity because the reason for you records and not how good you actually were. Plus, his body has taken enough hits for a lifetime. I will hate to read about Brady later on in life not doing well mentally.

I doubt that Brady is in any imminent danger of retirement. He still hasn't slowed down at all, not noticeably anyway. This version of Brady is at least on the same form he was in 15 years ago, and he's better right now than he was during the first dynasty.

the proof is in the level he's elevating our third string receivers to. He's still making relievers look better than they probably are, and taking plug and play pieces to Superbowls. We're a virtual lock to make the playoffs this season and if we don't go all the way, it'll probably come down to the defensive line rather than TB12.

There is absolutely no reason to suggest a guy who is still in competitive Superbowl form should do anything other than keep competing for Superbowls. There's maybe 3 teams in the NFL I'd worry about facing in SB52 with this version of Brady around. Until that changes there's no debate. He stays.

If Brady doesn't finish a Pats or retire a Pats...i may lose my mind for a couple weeks..but still won't change my view or our views on him.

But this thought...nope..not thinking it...hey it's raining out!

"But I want more!!! And I want it now!!!"

A young Giselle practicing for a future Superbowl selfie?

No I don't see that at all. As long as BB is a part of football he will be a Patriot. He is the Patriots and vice versa. Unlike some I think he will ensure the Patriots will be good to go before his and after Brady's departure.
The only loyalty BB has is to his own standard of excellence. As a football historian, he has to think about his own legacy. He could leave. Let's hope not. He doesn't want to pull a Marv Levy. And I bet he is dying to fish off of "9 rings" instead of attending training camp in 3 years.

Considering the type of player Brady is, I do not find this surprising at all.

Tom is living the life of his dreams. Why should he give that up, if he's not ready to do so? Nobody lives forever, and nobody knows their expiration date, so why should he worry about living a few more years of a lesser life? This isn't a case of a mill worker hitting the lottery and then finally doing what they've always wanted to. This is a case of a guy doing probably pretty much everything he ever imagined, and then some.

Yal. BB and Brady are ending their careers in NE. That's it.

Turn into sportstalk today and they sports mediots will parse every word and every inflection uttered by Brady, and the add their own views on and on and on and on and on then I will change the channel or turn on Pandora.

Mr. Kraft will not allow #12 to move on to another team, as he knows who helped bring this franchise to all of its glory.. #12 will live in infamy in some sort of relationship to the Patriots after retirement, probably not a John Elway role, but more of a Patriots ambassador. He will forever be compensated handsomely for some role.

BB will also continue on as long as he wants to, after coaching he will be a consultant.. then there will be the "BB Concourse" outside of the Proshop, or the "Brady Practice Fields" etc. Kraft knows who helped him amass some of his wealth..

I am of the firm opinion that Brady has told BB and Kraft that he will not play for another team. He hopes to retire on his own terms, but I bet you anything he has told them that if they plan to trade him, he will retire on the spot. He doesn't need the $$ and he doesn't need to be uprooting his family, his outside business interests or even his spouse's business interests in order to go play for some other team on someone else's terms and learn some other team's system at his age to squeeze out a few more years. Perhaps they have even agreed that they will not trade him, only cut him or let him retire when he wants, all in exchange for the home town discounts he has happily taken over the years. Just my $.02, and before anyone asks, I have no evidence (just like the rest of you). It's just the opinion I get reading the tea leaves.

PS - it must be maddening for Brady (and perhaps BB) that there is all this talk about Brady being traded when the team is 6-2, Brady is playing great and the team is pretty much perfectly poised for another SB run. Too bad we can't just enjoy this season in the moment.

It's pretty clear that something changed BB's mind about trading JG. Brady calling the shots is possible.

If Brady was to leave I would say the exact same thing that Wayne Cashman said to me many years ago when I was umpiring a charity softball game and threatened to throw another player out of the game for swearing. "Where he goes, I go"

PS to the PS - it seems that Brady and the Pats thrive on adversity.

I wouldn't say THAT. Like I said, bill knows exactly what it would take to get him to move on from TB12. If a time comes when TB12 thinks he can still play, and BB disagrees, there's a window for Brady to go somewhere else and try to prove him wrong. Hope it doesn't happen, but the scenario is plausible enough not to rule it out IMHO.

TB12's mentality leaves the possibility open of him living in denial for a couple years on some other franchise before actually hanging up his cleats. I've always thought that a guy with that kind of competitive fire is unlikely to approach retirement with grace and aplomb. Not when he always wants the ball. Not when he thinks he can still get it done. He doesn't have the personality of someone who can just switch the fire off like that.

I'm calling it right now: Brady will retire at some point.
