How is 155 over 4 years second highest paid? Or is this for 3 years plus the one he is at on rookie deal?

Yeah I don’t know what im missing here, thats less than 40 m per year which actually sounds cheap. Unless he has more guarantees?

Wait til we see Mayes second contract.
Why did the chicken cross the road?

Because she got sick of counting her chicks before they hatched and she was praying for a sweet release from this misery and a Mack truck.

Good for Love the Packers surrounded him with some good talent that's how you develop a young QB: BB.

Just curious what everyone thinks.

What is a worse scenario?

Waiting to Play your rookie QB so he has plenty of time to develop but then having to pay him a massive contract with a small sample size of play.

Or

Playing your rookie QB right away at the risk of him not having enough time to develop.

gaypride month too

That looks like fake news, but it looks like he'll get a deal done soon. Packers don't have a choice as he's going to be a FA in 2025.

PFT has yet to report this. Fierio (sp?) is usually on top of contract news.

My brain translated a quick glance at the thread title into something about paying for love.

I mean, I get the whole "gotta pay your quarterback" thing to an extent but at what point are you just overdoing it? Jordan Love? STRUCK GOLD? Please. They struck aluminum foil in a world of toilet paper (idk what that even means just go with it) let's not overstate how good this guy is

It's easy, the analysis done showed playing your rookie QB, if drafted high in the first round, is not a detriment to his development, even playing on a bad team these QB's should play right away regardless of the team around them, the evidence to the contrary is non-existent.
The reality is you won't affect his development and you'll actually accelerate it.

Financially, it's also a no brainer. If you play the guy and he is good you now have the perfect modern NFL position to be in.
A franchise QB on a rookie deal after year 1 that not only frees up money to complement the roster but also entices free agents to want to play on your team.

Paying Love on 1 season is scary. If we had to pay Mac Jones after season 1, how would that have worked out?

The latter imo.

Cap can be manipulated as we have seen. There is no cure for rushing, and ruining, a potential elite QB.

Of course, if they don't pay him enough now, and he turns out to be a top 5 ish QB, he will reset the market in a few years.

Biggest question is whether this guy will be closer to a top 15-20 QB or top 5-10 QB.
