OT: Will Anderson gets paid - and paid a lot - like a whole lot

I'd call the offensive line we had last year average, somewhere right in the middle. The two rookies on the left side were mostly good, but inexperienced to games opposing defenses were running. Wilson was also giving away run or pass with his tells.

I'd also put some of the rushing and perhaps pass blocking inefficiency on our lack of a true blocking FB or blocking TE... and a little more on Josh's lack of creativity. He's a play caller, not an artist.

In short, last year's offensive line wasn't average because the talent was average, it was more a lack of execution and for a myriad of reasons... not least of which is they were an entirely new group unfamiliar with each other.

You don't get to a Super Bowl with a bad line. Anyone saying that has no perspective.
This. Wozzy perfectly said. "You don't get to a superbowl with a bad line".. is so true. For example Understanding why Bradbury was traded Vrabel & Marrone saw the game film and concluded Wilson is best suited at C his natural position. An opportunity presented it's self with the trade to Chicago. Is why I'm not as down on the OL.. rookies will be better, stronger and experienced. I can understand the concern for Moses however we also should be trying to sure up the depth because Owenu is also pushing 30.. what's he 28? On the blocking really like the R. Gillaim and The TE Hill signings.

The OL needs lot of resources.

As of now, we have a 1st and 3rd rounder, an oft injured young vet, a $17M guard and a 35-year old that we HOPE can play effectively for one more season.

So, most likely we have 4 OL's going forward: LT, LG, C and backup IOL. Make no mistake, this can be almost fully solved this year or not. Mayo suggest that we are 98% there if we draft Ihenachor and Ruttledge. Add the signing of Munford and our line is just fine, thank you.

Reasonable. To calm some of the OL panic. If a game were played today we have 5 starters that we could say would be solid to protect Drake. Absolutely on Moses no denying that.. this is what the draft is for. Depth and eventual or in some cases starters. Munford as you mentioned has been recovering during the off season however has been on FA visits so not sure what's going on there. Also Vrabel signed Hudson so maybe he's his replacement? I feel however the urgent need is edge rushers. The cupboard is bare beyond starter Dre Jones. Nonetheless we can solve these issues in no specific order in the first 3 rounds.

And just another reason why it would be asinine to trade a high draft pick(s) for the aging, injured, expensive and potentially disruptive AJ Brown.

I don't think Brown would be disruptive playing for Vrabel, but I still don't want them giving up anything more than a 2nd next year for him.

I have a very difficult time believing it will be here if that’s the going rate.
think you are missing the mark here... i think he gets paid here... you know Vrabel wants him here, so it falls on Big Enos and Little Enos... if the Krafts let him walk over dollars, the vox populi would come for their heads... They may not want to pay him, but in the end they will pay him

1. Kudos for the Dukes of Hazard reference.

2. I’m not entirely sure Vrabel wants him in a “highest paid player in the league or close” kind of way. My logic is that I suspect Vrabel believes enough in his defensive scheme that he could say “we really want to primarily play zone and don’t need an elite man cover guy”.

Last season it seemed they only went heavier man because zone didn’t match personnel.

Cap keeps going up, it's tenable until the inevitable gambling scandal takes down the league.
Until then, let these kids make their money.
Yeah, the gambling scandal seems inevitable.
Damn shame

Smokey & the Bandit, but close enough

interesting analysis... i shall think on it... but man, you don't kick quality players in their prime over nickles and dimes...

Last season kurh & the defensive staff I saw in the coaches interviews all said as the season went along they saw that man coverage was more effective than zone.. Stevie Wonder could see this...

On zone.. I've made my feelings known on game days last season.

How on earth did I think Smokey & The Bandit and write “Dukes”. One of those days.

I def agree in a vacuum. It’s a tough reality that economics are getting to a point where you have to ask “can we really have a non-WB represent 15% of our cap in any given year?” Hell I think it’s even fair to ask if a QB should represent that much of your cap. A few maybe but Kirk Cousins sure as hell was never worth that yet market said he had to be.

And of they keep leaning zone, it’s sort of moot to pay Gonzo who seems MUCH better in man.
