BB knew this was a non playoff year from the start

3) what was the point of that hail mary?

If he instead just went with stidham and maybe another young developing QB, you either see that he is good enough to be your QB of the future or you are in position to draft one. Having Cam play just made you good enough to be out of the top 10 draft spots.

Which imo makes this a completely wasted season, no success and no evaluation either.

They've had 2 full seasons to evaluate Stidham in training camps and practice

Our current predicament started when Kraft stepped in on behalf of Brady and made bb move jimmy along!

but at the end of the day, we are a qb, a number 1 wr and some quality defensive linemen away from being a playoff team!

if bb quits freelancing and starts drafts productive players, we can be relevant again sooner rather than later.

cant even imagine the level of meltdowns people would be having if we got rid of Brady and signed Jimmy G to a massive contract, only to have him miss tons and tons of games to injury

Jimmy hasn't been able to stay on the field, he's a fragile QB that isn't going to have longevity in this league

Don't see any of the Garrapolites talking about all of the games Jimmy has missed with injury. Just the missing piece the Patriot's need, a $25+ million a year quarterback that spends all of his time in the ice tub!

So. The point is to build a team however it is done.
The team-building takes longer - a lot longer sometimes - when that team continues to blow top-100 draft picks outta its ass.

But not in an actual game before which he was allowed to practice during the preceding week with the rest of the starters.

The draft choices matter less when we had the goat qb. Now it matters a hell lot more. Need to hit on first and second rounders...
This 100%. The rebuild will be sped up exponentially if we have draft classes that look more like this year's and less like the last 5-6 classes. Missing out on those high round picks is why the roster is where it is right now.

The defensive backs on the roster consists of 6 unrestricted free agents, 3 undrafted players, and three draftees (Duggar, D. McCourty, and J. Williams). Based on his playing time, Williams may be the next
second round failure.

The coaching is amazing to get players better but they really have to trash the crappy WR/CB scouting system that McDaniels changed here . It's causing a ton of harm.

Yes, this is a product of being in the super bowl or AFCCG almost every year. You give Bill high picks and he'd be a lot better.

Bill had only a ONE-PICK disadvantage...The rest of them lies at his feet...

That’s an opinion. Results are not an opinion.
You are implying that it’s better to hit on draft picks and lose than miss on some picks, overcome those picks by other means (including the puck failing because you found a better player a different way) and winning.

You might have inferred that, but I never implied that.

I think we won due to multitude of reasons .. but since brady has left and no more free agents at bargain the sum of parts has gotten smaller . So the draft picks will need to perform. And other team second rounders are performing .. we are the only ones whiffing on high draft picks consistently. That has to change. Few undrafted gems does not excuse us from flopping so bad in the draft.

All is good as long as we win. The moment we start racking losing seasons we can watch the ship to sink faster and questions to be pretty caustic. So no point being happy and content about finding undrafted gems in the past . We need to find at least 1 or 2 all pros in next 2 years who will carry team culture and we will have the draft capital to do so , Unless we trade back and draft a defensive back whom nobody heard of.

So the point remains that nobody knows - including Bill - what Stid can do under those circumstances because IT HAS NEVER BEEN TRIED.
When in NFL history had a coach absolutely needed to start a back up player and give him full reps to see how good he really was
