Welcome to the analysis only thread. No hot takes allowed in here. Plenty of other threads for that.

Please be civil. Feel free to critique the play or disagree, but please don't become personal or start attacking each other.

Also, this thread is not some sort of "exclusive club." Everyone is welcomed to participate, to post an analytical tweet that's relevant, or to post original analysis, or a clip from the game.

Above all, if you don't understand something, whether it be terminology or concept, etc. Please ask!

Lazar putting things into perspective:

That really doesn't mean anything. They're all different organizations with different players, coaches, draft picks, etc, etc, etc. There's way to many variables for that "stat" to have any meaning.

All three teams have very different approaches, and yet they combine for a 12-14 record. That's telling.

You're not being forced to participate in this thread. This thread is for those who want to analyze what went wrong.

I was just kidding after a painful game to watch live. I understand your post and nice to have it.

There are a lot of hot takes going on right now which is why it's useful to just look at the game itself again, to directly understand what's really going on with the team, rather than relying on all the headline-grabbing hot takes, most of which are wildly speculative and way off-base (Brady declining, team sucks, McDaniels suck, etc. etc.).

I wouldn’t mind concentrating on Brady and the wideouts in this thread. I just saw that the WRs were averaging 2.4 yards of separation in passing situations yesterday. I’d like to see an analysis of how many of Brady’s passes were truly off-target and how many of them were simply dirt balls designed to not result in a turnover. The two plays I’d like to look at were the two late plays - both passes that went to Edelman when Hogan hit Butler with a double move on one and the other where Dorsett was wide open in the same vicinity as Edelman. Sorry, but I don’t have the time, down, or distance. I wasn’t watching the game from home yesterday.

Also @BaconGrundleCandy @PP2 @Tony2046 and anyone else with the All-22, can we concentrate on Brady’s legs and overall mechanics? There were multiple throws that I counted yesterday where he didn’t step into his throws and threw them flat-footed. These were plays where no pressure was around. Was he under pressure/hit/sacked prior to these throws?

Brady had a few really bad reads.

I remember specifically a play early on where we had white in the back field, patterson came across the line, white split came out of the back field.

White wide left, patterson wide right.

Patterson wide open, nobody had followed him, brady never even looked, it threw it right to white, white ended up getting tackled for a loss.

Between situations like that, and what felt like a bias by the refs in terms of PI, the offense just never got out of the gate.

He seems to be forcing the ball to Gordon so much. It feels like Gronk a few years back:

I mean you have White in the flat with the route concept on his side creating a natural pick which Brady should have been able to determine pre-snap. This exactly is what makes Brady so special. Reading the coverage, going through the options in his mind based on the called play and then anticipating the best player to target.

And still he goes for the 50/50 ball to Gordon. And it is not like it would have been some big homerun. Hell, White would have most probably gotten a bigger gain.

I don't get whats up with that.

In the play where Edelman passed to Brady and Brady didn't make a first down, did Brady stumble because of the turf or did his legs give out? I didn't have it on DVR. It appeared to me he tripped on the turf. I don't like him catching the ball, he is aging and could get injured.

I don't have access to all-22, sorry. Wish I did.

My initial thought was that Brady lost his footing because of the turf. On the replay, it looked like Brady tripped himself up and that's was caused him to stumble forward.

This was an in-game observation so may not hold up on review, but tge Titans appeared to focus on taking White out of the game either by blitzing and forcing him to chip before he got into his route or actively double covering him. It worked.

Brady's been bad (worst passer rating in the league) this year when blitzed, and normally he wants to be blitzed because he picks apart blitzing teams. I think that's where the trouble starts, and I'm not sure if it's protection, Brady himself, the receivers, or (most likely) some combination of the above.

I think its a combination.

Lack of protection leading to Brady seeing ghosts. Either he's being hit immediately, or he's too worried about getting it immediately to go to his second read.

When he has 3 seconds he does okay, anything less then that is a crapshoot. That hit on his reception probably didn't help matters, that hit seemed late(he was already hitting the ground), and incredibly hard.

The o-line right now is a bit of a mess because of injuries.

What we need is for the OL to get healthy. Get back to running the ball with Sony and get gronk back on the field. A balanced attack leads to less pressure, leads to a more effective brady. Get this offense to looking like it did against KC, Chicago.

Pees has traditionally done a pretty good job of limiting and frustrating Brady when he’s gotten his cracks at him. This game was no different.
