Who Else is Excited for the NFL Draft?

Pats have a lot of question marks this year, but I don’t consider Bourne one of them. The kid can play.

It's more about Mac than Bourne. He was nothing special at SF and improved here because of Mac, the system and coaching.

YAC is hugely important and Bourne is elusive after the catch -- now that he was coached how to carry the ball safely.

On the other hand Meyers is a complete liability after the catch even with Mac throwing to him -- which is why he has only 3 TD's in 3 years and a low DVOA. He needs to be WR #4 or #5.

Additional thought: if Meyers is such a good possession receiver, why is he useless in the redzone? My guess is that he gets covered there, i.e. the opposition knows he's not a YAC threat so treat him as the lowest coverage priority anywhere on the field except in the end zone where they cover him and he gets erased.

You should be very nervous about that. mock drafts have been shown to be incredibly accurate

As a football fan, yes, but as a pats fan no because it’s been a while since the pats made bold moves in the draft. I totally expect BB to go to value town and just keep trading down and find bandaids.

I used to be excited in my younger days like Christmas, but not so much anymore. However, the draft is still entertaining to watch at which team reaches and makes massive mistakes.

It's more like a weird cross between Hanukkah and Yom Kippur.

Do you all remember the days when draft news would be scrolling at the bottom of ESPN with little detail on the players, their metrics and character?? They were just names w/ their positions. Then we would find out about the details after the draft was completed. The way we found out about guys prior were magazines (Street & Smiths??), there was little media coverage. After the local press would provide small snippets of info on who their team drafted.

FF to today the NFL has successfully parlayed the draft into a year round attraction complete with $$$$$$ spent on mocks, prognosticators and any metric a draftnik could possibly need. Culminating in a travelling NFL extravaganza that goes from city for a huge 3 day celebration/party.

As someone who witnessed what was and is, find the current provision keeping my interest in the NFL year round... from my view the NFL has continually refined and honed it product, into what it is today a 17 game schedule + playoffs that goes on for 52 weeks every year. While I do not understand all the mocks and reasoning, overall it is a great product.

Once you get past the top 2 picks, there is nothing more useless than a mock draft - and this year those mocks may not even get the top 2 correct. There is simply no way to account for completely unpredictable things such as trades.

Having said that.... if anyone wants to enjoy seeing how far we've come, go watch the 30 for 30 episode on the 1983 draft. It is a fascinating bit of football history, but also hilarious to see what the draft used to be compared to what it is now.

It’s not the NFL it’s technology, the internet and social media. People find more ways to waste their time on stuff that doesn’t affect them. Like im doing right now in fact.

I remember buying Joel Buchsbaum's mimeographed pre-draft report in 1977! I know it was 1977 because of the entry for Stanley Morgan: "quicker than instant coffee". Was he ever! Best WR in Patriot's history, career 19.2 ypc!

Rest in peace, Joel. You were the first and best.

Thank you! She is an amazing gift. I was late to declare my eligibility to the NBL (National Baby League) but this is an example of MUCH better late than never. I now understand that the experience of being in the OR when your child is born can’t be described unless you go though it yourself. That first cry….holy sh*t, not to mention that first time she falls asleep in your arms. The sleep deprivation and exhaustion is real and it is spectacular but it is a happy exhaustion. The poop doesn’t bother me in the least because as a GI specialist, I have been training for poopy diaper changes for the past 15 years.

My prospect knowledge for this draft is subpar, even for me, but if the Belichick Haters Club is conspicuously quiet during the draft I will assume that Bill, Matt and Elliot have done their job….well. I try to avoid posting personal photos on the web (that photo is heavily cropped….take note @ChrisR2223) but in my opinion, this baby girl is an elite day 1 starter who screams (loudy) All-Pro at the next level. @BaconGrundleCandy would love her film….heavy hands and non-stop motor with the ability to break free from even the tightest swaddle.

She has agreed to be on her best behavior on Thursday and Friday nights.

I feel like I'm on information overload after reading 10 plus mock drafts. Daxton Hill was a popular Pats 1st pick. NFL Traderumors had Zion Johnson to the Pats, They also had my binky Nakobe Dean off the board at #47, which leads me to hope Pats trade up in the 2nd round. They also had Wisconsin LB Leo Chenel to the Pats at 54. .

I’m ready. Got quite a few holes this offseason so I think whether its LB, CB, Dline, WR or Oline its gonna help the team and I’ll be happy. I’m not fixated on one position or player like in years past. Just really hoping like everyone else they knock this draft out of the park like the last one.
