Who Else is Excited for the NFL Draft?

I was really pumped maybe just after the Combine, but since then, I've devolved into 9 year old me whining, "are we there yet" every 10 minutes. Day of I'll start feeling like we finally arrived at Theme Park Land and maybe pee in my pants a little due to excitement and also because parent thought I could hold it for the last hour.

Chiefs are definitely going to trade up for a stud receiver. Olave or Williams.

I'm stoked.

I LOVE the NFL Draft. Unfortunately I’ve been really disappointed way too many times Pat’s draft wise. Last year I was EXTREMELY happy with the Pat’s draft. For once, they didn’t reach, in fact some of the guys they drafted, were rated higher than where the Pats selected them. If they can stay within that way of drafting, maybe they’ll have their 2nd great draft in a row. I’m cautiously optimistic (like always), but hoping Groh can draft intelligently.

Groh said we have to improve the speed of the team. No more 4.55 and above receivers and DBs. 15 WRs ran 4.45 and under, draft 2 of them. A bunch of DBs ran under 4.45, draft 2 of them. Need explosiveness, not slow players. We have enough of them.

I am a die hard when it comes to the draft. Getting ready for my Draft party that I haven't had since the Pandemic started. Here is my draft board and team needs! The stars on players I would want the Pats to draft.

BTW, I can’t tell you how much I love this draft board. You really are an amazing Pat’s/Draft fan. Just incredible. GREAT JOB !!

I agree that they will do this. I wouldn’t be surprised if they somehow wind up with Williams or Olave.

I can see the Pats trading #21 with Olave still on the board, stupidly trading #21 to the Chiefs for #29 and a third round pick instead of taking him themselves. It’s just a typical Belichick thing to do.

On the other hand, I wouldn’t be surprised if WR Christian Watson goes in the 1st round as well. Not sure the Chiefs can land him by standing pat though.

Oh no doubt they'll need to trade up. But it'll be well worth it. Offense isn't going to miss a beat without Hill.

There's also plenty of Dline and back end D players to get out of this draft too. Stacked.

Will likely be the #1 SB favorites again.

Hoping Jordan Davis is Patriots 1st pick!

In 2021, Davis played less than 40 percent of Georgia’s defensive snaps. He played a series and spent the next two series on the bench.

His range defensively is limited to the “a” gap.

He offers nothing as a pass rusher.

Why is a team going to draft him in round one to be a rotational defensive tackle?

Wouldn’t taking a guy like McCall, who can give you nearly the same production, but cost you a sixth round pick be better value?

Kendrick Bourne was sneaky good last year. Mac to Bourne was the most efficient combo in the league according to DVOA.
Sneaky good, sure I'll give you that. But he's not a #1 threat for anybody. We still need to acquire a go to receiver for Mac Jones .

Thought I'd try to give this thread a little burst with what I think will be a notion that could make for some good, logic-based arguing. So....

George Pickens - Jahan Dotson -Skyy Moore or Alec Pierce. Just to name a few we can choose from.

Whatever you're smoking, you need to cut back.

Their position at #3 will not change based on anything that happens at the draft.

I don't understand why there is a chiefs fan on a pats forum talking draft talk. do teh chiefs not have fan forums, or are they just as insufferable as i imagine them to be

I saw a mock on nfl.com that had the patriots drafting a slot cb I. The 2nd...ugh

There might be good receivers available on the board, but with the Patriots track record, how do you know we won't take N'Keal Harry 2.0 instead? :poop:

LOL. I hope that's not the case, but we've been known to pass on better talent to take busts. Hopefully 2021 is a continuation of 2020  instead of the previous 10 years of drafting o_O.

While I don't disagree that we need better WRs, that 30.1% DVOA for Mac to Bourne is the highest Patriots WR DVOA in the Belichick era, even beating out Brady to Moss's 29.2% in 2007. Mac to Bourne was more efficient per play than any Brady/WR combo, and was the most efficient Patriots' per play QB/WR combo going back to at least 2000. Brady to Welker's best was 20.8% in 2011. DVOA doesn't like Edelman -- but it did like Givens and Branch.

That's clearly more because of Mac's efficiency than Bourne's, and it is exciting to think about what Mac might do throwing to truly great receivers.

Devante Parker's best season, 2019, Tua to Parker was 14.9%.

Brady had his most efficient WR's ever in 2020 by DVOA, with Godwin at 28.0% and Evans at 25.7%

In Gronk's first 3 seasons with Brady he was 1st in TE DVOA 2 times and 2nd once with a high of 51.9%. Brady to Gronk was always high in DVOA, and only in TB did the WR's have higher DVOA for Brady -- suggesting that Gronk's "retirement" in 2019 is what really killed the offense.

Brady's success with the Pats was always associated with high RB receiving DVOA (Faulk, Woodhead and White) and Gronkowski.

BTW Mac to Henry was the 2nd best TE DVOA in the league last season at 25.8%. Mac will be special if he airs it out more.

Mac to Bolden was 2nd in league DVOA at 46.4%. Obviously it wasn't Bolden -- Mac ran the Pats system well.

Again DVOA is productivity per play, not total productivity which is DYAR in their system. Both are defense adjusted.

Pats have a lot of question marks this year, but I don’t consider Bourne one of them. The kid can play.
