Seth Wickersham's history of unsourced NFL stories of discontent

Ordway and crew are speculating that 'Deep Throat' is Thom McDaniels.
Well that brady douchebag used the f word toward his son.

It’s funny. Like why in the world would McDaniels father, a retired long time, well respected coach have any interest at all in talking to an Espn reporter about his sons employer?
The craziness of this stuff boggles the mind.

They have a job to do. Yeah, they have to listen to their bosses but there have been occasions where it’s out of control and I have heard both of them defend the patriots. Would you rather have someone that totally hates us than these two. At least we have some semblance of respect with them. They are like our spies who gets paid by the enemy. Even Rodney and Dingy gets reverse roles sometimes when rooting for the pats. Someone has to make a story about us and I rather have people that have some respect for the patriots doing it.

I don't give a **** who they hire. I'm not going to read it or watch it regardless.

Anyone who was paying attention 3 years ago (or 11 years ago for that matter) that still works there has lost any respect I had for them. Sorry, but it is what it is.

After they way they treated Spygate and then for Tedy to take a job there... I want to puke just thinking about it now, all these years later. Then he stays through defamegate too? Dead to me.

Look, some people can do it, others can't. I could not morally work for ESPN knowing what I know. It's just that simple.

That fine. If you can't you can't. Some people can and their integrity and credibility remain intact.

Why do you try to force people to agree with you?

I'm not forcing anybody to do anything. You choose to respond to my posts.

With me, if you throw out an opinion or a position on a topic I don't agree with, expect rebuttal and an opportunity to debate will present itself.

If you say something I like and agree with, expect me to pile on and support your view.

Its up to you what you say.

There are no safe spaces here.

Their job is to have integrity as a journalist and provide fact, truth and educate the customer.

Are you telling me Reiss pumping BB this morning on a fraud article by WickerSHAM, is showing integrity, when it he damn well knows WickerSHAM's piece is a sham?

That's your opinion.

IMO, we don't get very much insight into who any of these people really are. One area we can glean information and make judgements based on who they choose to associate with. Both of them choose to be employed by, and associate with, the lowest form of life in the sports reporting world.

So, they join them, and have become one of them.

Speak for yourself. I have a pretty good idea the type of person Mike Reiss is.

I respond because you continue to follow me trying to get me to agree. We don't agree.

You seem to think you can mantain your integrity, when you align with someone or something where you know there is no integrity. Reiss knows the article is 100% made up.

Do you respect Chris Mortensen?

Speak for yourself. I have a pretty good idea the type of person Mike Reiss is.

Mike Reiss is an ESPN company man. Not much else to say here. He made his choice a long time ago by even going there. So did Bruschi.

We've known for over a decade what ESPN and Goodell have been up to.

Why is this so hard for these people to understand? ESPN knowingly went along with Goodell and the owners, to frame and defame, cheat and steal, from our team TWICE.

We lost 2 Super Bowls over it.

The distraction from the lie of a Walkthrough tape and then, no 1st rd pick available to us in SB 46 with a depleted D.

I wouldn't be shocked if someone in the Giants organization talked to Tomase on the eve of SB 42, lying to him. We still never got to know who his fraudulent "source" was.

I contend that if Kraft did sue the Herald in 2008, none of this would be happening.

Well then stop responding. I have plenty of other people on this board I can debate and have discussion with.

I sure do.

Reiss knows the article is 100% made up.

Mike has said elements of it are true.

Do you respect Chris Mortensen?

Do I respect Mort in what way? Father? Husband? Friend? Reporter?

Mike Reiss is an ESPN company man. Not much else to say here. He made his choice a long time ago by even going there. So did Braschi.

I think Mike is very careful about what he says publicly and how it reflects on he as a journalist, the team and the company.

We've known for over a decade what ESPN and Goodell have been up to.

So? Espn employs 1000s of people. In your eyes they are all unethical.

I sure do.

The only elements of it that are true are this:

1. Garoppolo had to be traded. Wickersham made up everything else just like he did with the Don Van Natta article he released last year. Or, the Rolling Stone article about Hernandez flying to the Combine to ask BB's opinion about laying low and getting himself a "flophouse".

2. Guerrero was given some basic boundaries that make sense, since it is a unique situation.

The problem is, this is old news, so the TIMING of when this fantasy story has been dropped, is the dead giveaway that's not only made up, but an attempt to try to distract.

Again.

Yes, I am asking if you respect Mortensen after knowing he was involved (either directly or indirectly) as a conduit for Deflategate. He either 100% trusted Mike Kensil's info as a lie and didn't care, or he was told to print it. Either way, he failed and committed a cardinal sin in the industry.

Speak for yourself. I have a pretty good idea the type of person Mike Reiss is.
I am speaking for myself. Not sure what gave you the impression I was speaking for anyone else...

You THINK you know, but then, he works at BSPN, so...

Nope. Not what I said. The ones with the microphones and keystrokes have a responsibility to the consumer.

That responsibility is about integrity, trust and consistency.

Reiss has changed, even in this last year, and in IMO, it's tied to the bad NFL ratings, ESPN's 13 billion dollar deal with the NFL for MNF. The NFL has never lost money before with their tv deals. Ever.

I think it's funny you asked me for a trollish Reiss article and literally this morning, he was badgering BB to answer more questions about a known fraud article.

I do not respect Mort as journalist.

I'm pretty sure hes an ethical dude with integrity. If you want to keep trashing him feel free and I'll keep defending him.

huh? Ok that sounds like a reasonable position.

That responsibility is about integrity, trust and consistency.

ok

Nope. Hes the same dude back when he worked at MetroWest Daily news.

I think it's funny you asked me for a trollish Reiss article and literally this morning, he was badgering BB to answer more questions about a known fraud article.

As a journalist, he would not be doing his job if he did not as Bill for comment. Thats Journalism 101.

Well, I don't agree. He's changed. I am sure he is a nice guy and everything, but to say he's the same guy is just not true. Did you read him badgering BB this morning?

It's "journalism 101" to ask BB about a fairy tale at a press conference? Really?

Again, if Reiss knows the piece to be a fake, sensationalized to the moon and back, why is he asking about it?

1. It's been addressed already by Kraft, Brady and BB.
2. It has nothing do with the game this weekend.

It's a dead story/non-issue.

OK we don't agree on Reiss, how to be a journalist, work/life balance and the NEP 2010 D.

You're wrong, though.

I remember when they butchered one of his articles so bad it turned out saying the exact opposite of what he had originally posted. After a brief show of anger, he meekly bought an "editorial mistake" excuse and went right back to work. Plus, he often alludes to things he'd not allowed to say or talk about because of his employer. That's not integrity, it's the very definition of a sell out.

BB knows Reiss has a job to do and he showed him full respect by answering with more than two words. BB also asked if Mikes child was feeling better too when the kid was in the hospital. You must think BB is naive to the workings of BSPN, he knows what’s he doing with the press and what they want from him.

This isn’t the 70’s journalism with integrity is near dead now. Sensationalism is what sells and I’d rather read something from Reiss than from the really bad mediots.
