It's also possible they sign a younger veteran - there are several guys who will be looking for jobs after this next draft which has at least 1st-rounders who will displace incumbents and backups.

I wonder if Teddy Bridgewater would be available if Minnesota keeps winning. he would be intriguing because he looked real good prior to his injury. If he is back to pre-injury form he is a real good QB

And this is part of that Lombardi quote....this part has me scratching my head quite frankly.

Here's the problem: When you start off a sentence with "I don't know" and "I'm sure", you DON'T know and you're NOT sure. You're SURE the Pats have given out game balls???????? They give out game balls for every milestone a player achieves, Mike! Anyone who has watched any Patriots locker room video (at least the 2 minutes they choose to show us) know that for certain. I don't mean to question Lombardi since I know people like him here but was he really around the team as much as he says he was? And then he starts to waver on what the "award" is even called. I'm not sure who to believe now, but I lean more towards guys who are actually in the locker room now like Howe who have said they have not heard of one.

Lombardi obviously doesn't know what he's talking about there. He was aware that somebody got some kind of award sometime, which is true.

"I wrote a similar story last Friday because, after talking to sources on all sides of various issues, I sensed uneasiness over simmering tensions and uncertainty about the future."

"There are people within the Patriots organization who believe Belichick got bigfooted by Kraft on this and are proceeding under the assumption that Belichick may be so miffed that he’ll leave. They also believe the Patriots made a mistake gambling that Brady will be able to produce for as long as he thinks while moving on from the obviously-gifted Garoppolo."

"And, regardless of how pissed Belichick may or may not be (and I think he’d probably be more exasperated than pissed)"

LINK-----Tom E. Curran
You need to listen to the rest of that podcast, I did. Curran said he disagreed Belichick got "bigfooted" etc. Was there "tension" about Guerrero's role? Sure. [Curran].

Again, listen to the whole podcast.

of course he doesnt "unequivocally" know there is tension

hes not in the room with them

but curran says " I sensed uneasiness over simmering tensions"

his words....not mine

Pretty weak emphasis on your part. Would an organization have some tension dealing with a hall of fame qb and a young promising one you'd groomed for years? Of course. Is there a big issue that there was tension? Not at all.

Given the millions of dollars and future of the franchise, if you didn't have tension about a situation like that you'd be...well you'd be the Jets.

I don't know what kind of work you do down at the troll factory, but everybody who works with other people works with a certain level of tension all the time.

It's also possible they sign a younger veteran - there are several guys who will be looking for jobs after this next draft which has at least 1st-rounders who will displace incumbents and backups. Teddy Bridgewater is an interesting name on the FA list to me, and a guy named Drew Brees who's too short to make it in the NFL, but worth a look.

There's a boatload of 2018 FA QBs on this list: 2018 NFL Free Agents Tracker

I was thinking about this route as well, the problem is that most are going to want to start. The Vikings QB situation merits watching.

it brings out the troll in me

i honestly like brady....absolute truth.....and respect how great he has been

just never fell madly in love like many
Yeah but he's no Jimmy Garopollo, right? You falling in love with Jimmy? I sense tension from you over having to accept it was Belichick that dealt him away. That explains your need to advance Wickerscam's hit job. It was Kraft and Brady. They dealt your binky. Makes you feel you were right all along.

contrary to popular believe, you do realize it is possible for the Patriots to draft and groom another young quarterback. People act like this is it, no way they can do it again. Now that Jimmy is gone, thats it...

For what its worth Ian Rappoport also said patriots made the right decision in choosing brady over Jimmy G. he said you dont dump the QB playing at an MVP level for a young unknown who might have good skills.

I think alot of people choosing Jimmy G over Brady are those who would rather have 10 years of competing (but possibly no super bowls) than 2 years of being a coin-flip to win the whole thing. I dont get it, I'd rather be the team to beat the next couple years than "one of the teams"
Once again, give me these “2 careers”.

Brady starting at 40 for as long as he lasts plus the career if the replacement to be named later ( even if it takes a couple of tries)
Vs
Jimmy g starting at 27.

No brainer, which is why brady is here and jimmy is not.

I swear people think that once brady retires we have to play without a qb.

i have to be careful.....im on thin ice here......i'm a naughty brat

but this is what i originally said...minus the "confirm"

"didnt curran basically report the idea of "tension" between the parties over this stuff?"

i said nothing more.....and i stand by it.....i think currans article supports it

Look, I would like to report that there are sometimes tensions among the FO, coaches, owners and starting andbackup qBs in 31 teams in the NFL and I dare you to prove me wrong. It's just such a stupid thing to hang your hat on if you aren't a troll.

if the "simmering tensions" arent between the 3 and about the rumor stuff...then what are they about?

you want me to think curran used the words "simmering tensions" to describe the fact that all 3 of them are getting older and will eventually retire?

Curran had a hangover and had some menudo simmering.

The other part people don’t seem to get:

If brady ONLY plays another 2 years, and you wanted to keep jimmy g for 2020, you would go into 2020 with a 30 year old qb with a career as 6 years as a backup and almost no starts.

Bingo. There is only one prize. If we made the other trade we'd be depending on a QB with two NFL starts [at the time] instead of the current consensus MVP to finish off this season's quest. Maybes and wannabes are nice, but Brady has cashed in for real ad brought his team hfa again. A bird in the hand...

After reading a few stories of his work and a few of the solid posts here I've come to the conclusion Sham is like a screenwriter. He'll take events and create a screenplay based on a true story but facts have been modified, contorted, made up and embellished to make the story captivating to the audience.

Typical Disney...

Don’t feed the troll. He believing mediots before kraft or Bb or Brady is all you need to know. Kraft said Bb made the move. Kraft may be gutless sometimes but he doesn’t lie about the organization since he’s been the owner.

First, if the team knew there was the slightest chance Jimmy's extension was not going to be a slam dunk, why would they trade Brissett before trading jimmy leaving themselves with no viable backup after jimmy is moved?

Since they did trade both QBs, your premise was clearly wrong (I don't know where you going with this. Jimmy's extension was not a slam dunk and they traded Brissett. No one has ever suggested that Jimmy agreed to an extension and then backed out; it's been pretty clear all along that JG wanted a chance to play.

Personally, I believe they traded Brissett because they saw that he was clearly not the Patriots QB of the future. That's what I saw, anyway.

They traded JG because they wanted some immediate value, not a potential late 3rd round pick on a QB that there was no way to keep.

It's as simple as that in my mind. Of course, I tend to take things at face value...

It's ridiculous. Plus there is no severity level assigned to this tension.

Mrs RW and I are trying to figure out if we want to upgrade the carpeting or extend the hardwood flooring already in place. Cost is certainly a factor but nothing we won't untimately figure out.

I bet if you ask our 3 children they would say there is "tension" . Oooooh juicy !

Sorry to hear about your divorce. That sucks.

In Brady's 15 full season he has gone to

- 10 AFC championship games 66.6%
- 7 Superbowls. 47%

That's a nearly 70% chance he's in the AFC championship.

This is Brady's 16th season, if he goes to the Super Bowl half the seasons he's played he will have made the Super Bowl.

Montana in his 14 relatively healthy seasons Made the Super Bowl 28% of the time and played in six conference championships 43%.

I'm just not convinced any QB gives their team a better chance of winning a Super Bowl. Especially while at the top of his game.

There is no evidence at all to the contrary, it would be impossible to not be convinced no other QBs gives his team a better chance.

I posted earlier when the patriots have a bye they make the afccg 10 of 11 Times, the SB 7 of 11 and win it 5/11.
They are 22-6 in the playoffs when they have a bye.
When they have a 1 seed they make the Sb 5/6 and win it 3/6.

11 AFCCG, actually.
