The Patriots need the Chiefs to win the division but also finish with 4 losses, assuming the Patriots win out. So the Chiefs need to lose one of their last two (or both) and the Patriots need to win their last three and the Chargers need to lose out, basically.

Long story short, the Patriots have essentially locked themselves out of the 1 seed because Rob Gronkowski was selected to play FS over Devin McCourty.

If the Pats take care business vs Pittsburgh everything is gravy again! KC has another primetime night game on the west coast @ Seattle who's been on tear as of late! I can see the Chargers winning their last 2 games vs Baltimore and @ Denver or splitting the last 2!

To get #1 we need / needed 4 things:

Chargers over Chiefs. Check.
Chiefs lose another, probably @ Seattle (play game 16 @home vs. Raiders)
Chargers lose another, probably vs. Baltimore, could also be @ Den
Patriots win out
