Garrett Bradbury was back as the starting Center. Vederian Lowe returned to Practice from PUP, and both Keion White and Antonio Gibson also came back.
Absent: Christian Gonzalez, Carlton Davis, Sidy Sow, Caedan Wallace, K’Lavon Chaisson, Jahlani Tavai and Kendrick Bourne. Gonzalez came out late in just his shirt and shorts. He stayed late after practice again, signing autographs for the fans.
Head Coach Mike Vrabel announced that Kendrick Bourne got rolled up on during the scrimmage Friday night and he will not play this Friday versus the Commanders. He also stated that Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis are out for Friday Night.
Marcellus Dial carted off the field with an apparent Left Knee injury.
DC Terrell Williams went down in practice and got up under his own power even though the trainers took him off in a cart. He left practice and didn’t return. Zak Kuhr took over play calling duties. The Patriots put out a press release that Williams is fine and that he suffered from dehydration. NFL Insider Josina Anderson reported that Williams was up and around the locker room after the practice.
Carlos Sanchez from LosTalksPats had this report from practice. TreVeyon Henderson got open down the sideline on a wheel route and QB Drake Maye found him for the 25-yard TD — Henderson quickly followed that play up with an impressive stutter and go and Maye perfectly placed a TD pass near the back left pylon.
DeMario Douglas was very involved during 11s — Douglas consistently beat defenders at the line of scrimmage and getting open on underneath routes.
Kayshon Boutte and Drake Maye ended practice with an out route in a 4th and 3 situation — Boutte was blanketed in coverage by DJ James and managed to make a toe-tapping snag.
Efton Chism had the catch of the day — Chism made a one-handed diving TD catch on a fade route with Craig Woodson in tight coverage.
Javon Baker had a great 7s performance carried over into the 11s period — Baker made an incredible leaping catch over Marcellas Dial for a TD.
Hunter Henry lost Kyle Dugger over the middle and Drake Maye found him for a nice gain — Henry later found a soft spot in the zone where Maye found him for a TD.
WRs dominated 1-on-1s with the most impressive being Ja’Lynn Polk (4-0), Stefon Diggs (3-0), Kyle Williams (3-0), and Kayshon Boutte (2-0).
DJ James forced incompletions (2 PBUs) against WRs Stefon Diggs, Kayshon Boutte and Kyle Williams during 11s.
Khyiris Tonga batted a pass down from Drake Maye at the line of scrimmage with DeMario Douglas open down the middle.
Elijah Ponder shined during 1-on-1s — Ponder won 4(!) reps and his ability to bend the edge was on full display.
Craig Woodson got some 1st team reps over Kyle Dugger today in practice.
Will Campbell continued to be better in team periods than 1-on-1s. He lost his 1st one-on-one battle against Keion White, then drew against White the 2nd time and stoned Bradyn Swinson on the last. He didn’t get beaten in the team periods.
Evan Lazar has stated that Will Campbell has been dominating in the run game all camp and that has been under-reporter by the media. Is Campbell that good or is the Defensive line that bad against the run? We will find that out in the joint practice.
TreVeyon Henderson had a big day catching 3 TDs and rushing for another in the Red Zone heavy practice. The big play was a 25-yard TD in the back of the endzone over Christian Elliss. Henderson spilt out wide on the play. He is going be a big mismatch in one on ones against the opposition linebacker.
Javon Baker had 2 TDs in 7 on 7s all from Josh Dobbs. He continues to stack good days together. He also is the gunner opposite Brendan Schooler on the Punt Team. That may be the difference on him making the team.
It was learned from Efton Chism last week in his post practice interview that he has been driving Mack Hollins home and then they watch practice film together.
Cole Strange was the 2nd team Center and Ben Brown moved in at Left Guard.
Demontrey Jacobs moved to Left Tackle with the 2nd team line and not Vederian Lowe.
Neither one of the kickers is giving an inch in this kicking competition. Both went 4 for 4 again with the long kicks being from 54-yards out.
Cut last week by the Patriots, RB Trayveon Williams signed with the Browns
