good . but hopefully not connected to Cannon's longer absence..

Probably good to have him as the swing tackle if he can't crack the starting lineup. If Brown proves to be too good to let go, Wynn could be the long term answer at RT since Cannon is getting older and has an injury history. Hopefully it doesn't stunt his growth at LT.

Hopefully Tommy takes over more in game 2 and 3 . otherwise we will know a lot about our D and not much about WR..

True for us fans as for must of us the preseason games are the only look into whats going on. I am sure the skill position players will have had enough reps with Brady in practice for the coaching staff to know.

I say hollister makes the year 2 jump and I think we see the 2TE receiving production closer to Gronk/Hernandez, Gronk/Bennett than last season.

Cannon was Pats best OL when healthy last two seasons and is signed through 2021 on a very low contract so better hope he's coming back soon and plays it through

EDIT: this is what Reiss and Howe reported a good week ago:

Reiss
Starting right tackle Marcus Cannon left Wednesday’s practice, but I’m told there is no reason for long-term concern, and it isn’t related to last year’s ankle injury.

Jeff Howe:
Marcus Cannon’s injury has been classified as “minor,” according to a source. He left practice today.

btw - Waddle clearly looked the weakest link in very solid OL so maybe they decided to give Wynn more chance there in case Cannon can't start week 1..

Reading too much into it but could be contingency in case Cannons foot injury lingers and sends him eventually to IR-to-be-returned.

It would be great if Cannon was our starting RT through 2021. I'm not so sure that's going to happen, though.

hold your horses, @luuked.. i edited above the Reiss and Howe reports that its minor. That's why i expected him back today but next week would be crucial if he wants to start week 1

Like I said.. reading too much into it..

We just have been through so many of those injuries that "linger" and then the camp ends and suddenly a player is on IR-return and not available for half of a season. Obviously I would prefer a healthy Cannon at RT over first year Wynn who is just transitioning to the pros in terms of physique and also game IQ.

Wynn is a smart beast though .. and the season is long re. injuries, attrition

Desperately trying to find added value. Nice to hear but does not bode well for him.

That's probably true...maybe it's more related to the young bubble trio (Lewis, Crossen, Jackson).

Devin would be heated tbough.
I'm sure that is in the thinking.
If it's close I think Mccourty gets the nod over a rook.
I don't want to keep Mccourty to lose Lewis and or Jackson.
However I would be happy with Breeland.
However seems his market may be too hot for us.
It's funny the Patriots show interest now his market is red hot.

IDK. It's kinda SOP for the Pats to identify backup returners among all the players on the roster. DMac was actually the Pats leading KR in 2012: 27/654 (24.2 avg), including a 104-yd TD. DMac also had two KRs last season.

You keep the best players plain the simple. You can’t let your thinking get clouded by what his sibling thinks. The Mccourtys have been in this game long enough to know how the league works.

If it’s close (basically a tie) I would do the opposite and go with the youngsters. More room to grow and under contract for multiple seasons. Keeping the vet who’s more expensive and on a 1 year deal could mean we’re facing similar issues with corner depth next season.

Starting to get a little worried about Cannon. I hope he comes back before the next 2 practices are over.

If he’s out for the year i am gonna be pissed. The guy can’t get on the damn field.
