The situations are different the mentality is not. The Patriots may have gotten lesser value thanks to their starting position, but they still received value from the same action.

Dropping down also makes more sense when you need players all over the place, the way the Rams do. The Patriots weren't in that position.

Not that I disagree, but time has proven then BB is about creating depth. If the value is there, he trades up. I have confidence in his drafting approach given the Patriots are a perennial contender.

Depth can be gotten in multiple ways, though. Elite players are difficult to get unless you draft them.
