DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION The Official NFL Draft Day 1 thread

Status
Not open for further replies.
Coverage begins at 7PM EST. The actual draft won't commence until 8PM. Teams have 15 minutes allotted to make a pick (or negotiate a trade) in round one. If God is merciful - and a football fan - those in the first couple of selections who know who they are taking won't be intent on milking the clock for attention... Otherwise it will be a long night for teams picking in or trading out of the late 20's and early 30's....

15 min or 10? didnt they move it down to ten last year? Did they move it back? Or am I just showing my crazy side?

Let's stop the message board bickering. Maybe someone will post before Goodell, maybe they won't - who cares. if it's not accurate then they are the fools.

Hate to be kicking people off the thread before the draft even starts.

You know guys, I'm concerned. We have the next 3 days watching all the picks and trade. That should be fun and interesting. Then we have the next week to analyze, discuss, and other wise break down the events of this 3 day draft.....Good stuff, right? AND then what? Its over man for the next 3 months. I'm already having withdrawal symptoms just thinking about it.

The Bruins are done, and the Celts aren't going deep in these playoffs, whats left until TC....THE RED SOX????? Our beloved Sox have turned from our lovable losers, to lovable winners, to contemptible entitled whiners and underachievers. Christ its like they turned into the freakin' JETS

Gotta figure out how to make this draft last, because the next 3 months is going to be a LOT less interesting.

It's 10 minutes a pick and if the first 2 picks take more than 1 minute each i am going to be supremely pissed cause everyone in the world knows who they are going to be. it every team took their full 10 minutes the pats wouldn't be on the clock till after midnight LOL

FWIW, Michael Holley said his sources tell him that the Pats will draft Jenkins in the first round. Granted he said the source was "outside the organization".

Don't forget who the owner of the Colts is, though. I wouldn't put it past Irsay to milk every last second of clock time.

I will really be pissed if the Colts and the Redskins take more than a minute to get their picks in. I can see the Vikings taking all there time because there will be trade options at their spot, but those first 2 teams better not milk this for more than a few minutes. Because you are right, it IS going to be close to midnight before we get close to where the Pats are picking.

And it should be especially long tonight because there are going to be a lot of trades done. It will almost worth it to have BB trade the first 2 picks up to 11 and get the night over in time to watch "Person of Interest"

The pick will not be the problem. It's the airtime the first two guys get with Roger.

Makes sense if they're really moving McCourty to safety and need another press corner.

First trade of the day has been made, as the Vikings and Browns switch spots and the Vikings pick up 3 extra picks for dropping down one spot.

Browns acquire No. 3 pick from Vikings for three selections

The Minnesota Vikings have traded the No. 3 overall pick to the Cleveland Browns for the No. 4 overall pick and three additional selections in the 2012 NFL Draft, according to Fox Sports insider and NFL Network contributor Jay Glazer.

The Browns gave up their fourth-, fifth- and seventh-round picks (Nos. 118, 139, 211) this year, a source with knowledge of the situation told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora.

The Vikings might try to engineer another first-round trade

Some last minute action

Sounds like they were paranoid that the Bucs or another team would trade up and take Richardson. I thought the Vikes would take Kalil at 3 but I read somewhere very recently (10 minutes ago) that Claiborne is #1 on their board. The Bucs are ****ed, lol.

Also, with the Browns taking richardson, the real mystery of the draft moves down one spot to 4, again with the Vikings.

Wow can anyone remember when the last three picks were locked in stone the way they are now? Luck, RG3, now Richardson.

The rumor now (per Rotoworld) has the Browns trying to trade up for a third 1st rounder, which they reportedly would like to use on Weeden.

Mystery!!! Intrigue!!! Hysteria!!!

...and the Patriots trade out of the first round acquiring two 1's next season and a 3rd, 4th, 5th,and 2 6ths in the 2012 draft.....

well....see ya tomorrow everybody!

Strong suggestions the Jags are looking to trade for Vikings' #4 and take Blackmon. Vikings can build a whole new team in this draft if they carry on.
