I'm embarrassed to say I have not heard of any of those artists.
I'm 34, I don't listen to rap or hip-hop anymore but I loved a lot of the stuff in the 90s.. much like all generations, I view the newer stuff as trash compared to what I listened to lol

I used to hate country music, but I find myself enjoying some of that now too so my tastes have definitely changed/evolved over the years
There is way too little good stuff out there, if we're talking about rap, hip hop. Pretty much every single song is about money and other self-indulging "lyrics".

if you want to hear good "new" rappers, I'd suggest Kendrick Lamar (i hope you heard about this one, rw, lol) and Frank Ocean

Kendrick Lamar is pretty much the last decent artist who actually is a lyricist. The high majority of new rappers don’t prioritize this any longer, and that’s why a lot of the recent stuff blows.

Still shocked that some marble mouthed “blouse” wearing skinny kids are taking over the game. To me, that’s sad and pathetic. My hope is that it doesn’t destroy the genre, itself. I grew up in an era where being a strong lyricist was key, and I’d still choose to listen to Biggie Smalls over most of the crap today. As far as the newer stuff goes, I like Meek Mill and K.Dot, but that’s about it.

Got a money green leather sofa, got two rides a limousine and a chauffeur....

I grew up on traditional & thrash metal. Metallica or Motorhead is comfort music. Some call it commercial metal but i don't give a ****. Stuff like Black Metal or Death Metal I'm not all that in to.

Motley Crue is not heavy metal. I put them in the glam rock/glam hard rock category.
Much like Jay-Z, Metallica fell off after the Black album. Must be something of a curse. Motley Crue is most definitely glam rock.

I recently got lured in the Apple Music subscription with the idea that I’d have access to the entire Beatles catalogue, so I’ve been balls deep into that lately. Not a fan of the early years, but the middle to late years are obviously incredible. Many people don’t think of albums like Rubber Soul or Revolver as being their best, but they’re amazing, start to finish.

1. Revolver
2. Sgt Peppers
3. Rubber Soul
4a. Abbey Road
4b. White Album

If he's healthy, an infusion of Van Noy,Branch and Harrison could be dramatic considering how well young, or back up types like Marquis, Lee, Wise, Butler and Guy have played to hold the fort . Trey Flowers should be able to play with less responsibility too. Could be our best D since losing Hightower.

"Country" is about the only pop-genre left in which one can get even an occasional taste of genuine blues anymore. There are also more genuinely and honestly creative songwriters/lyricists involved in "country" than in Top-40. The TV show, Nashville, featured a lot of those folks during its first couple seasons, before is devolved into just another soap opera (a similar fate befell Empire, though a bit more quickly).

These days, the simplistic Top-40 ditties, which includes "pop rap" IMHO, seem all very scientifically constructed around the "hooks". While it's possible for me to sort of admire the Taylor Swifts and Katy Perry's, etc. for the cleverness of the hooks that their "songs" are built around, coming from a classical/improvisational-jazz background, it's difficult for me to think of such mechanistic stuff as "music".

Speaking of performance grades, I found this interesting ...

Here's that same lit from mid-March, about the time the Pat were acquiring Burkhead and Gillislee ...

I'm already freezing my ass off thinking about the game in 8 days and 101 minutes.

Can't wait!
Freezing rain and cloudy in the 300s forecast at the moment.
