It's not the front 7 i am worried about although they looked pathetic against philly. I am worried also about our LBs

We might have some improvement getting back Hightower, Langi and Rivers. As has been said often, we usually have 2 LB's on the field.

Free up cap space.

Not always possible, and certainly not always possible without having a negative impact on other aspects of the team.

I wanna see if the pats made him any offers

I would, too. But all of either of us will ever get are the vague references to Pats offers made by Solder himself, and then media speculation on what Solder meant.

Clayborn will be better against the run. Rivers tore his ACL, Langi is all questionarks, and both Butler and Wise showed promise, but are not superior athletes.
The point is the team has 8 front 7 players that either were rookies and could/will make the jump hardly played or didn't play last year on the team that will see the field in 2018.

You should be worried about it. Run D and pass rush were average to sub standard last year.

The fact that they finished as well as they did in points allowed is a miracle.

I'm more worried about reducing the number of times that Brady gets hit. A top OL and a top RB will help that. IMHO, we should (and are likely to) add another OL by trade or top 100 draft pick.

Belichick might add a top LB. However, a veteran is more likely to be of help.

Teams will attack the Patriots the way the Eagles did, they only way to stop that is to attack the QB and force him into making mistakes. The Pats will face a rookie QB at least 4 times next year, and if they just let them sit there and pick them apart like they let Foles do, they will be toast!!

The Pats need athletes, like umm let me think, oh yeah, like Chandler Jones and Jamie Collins, yeah that's the ticket!!!!

Well it did last year and not much has been done to address the problem, the front seven is not athletic.
They are adding Shelton rivers clayborn and Hightower to the front 6.
I’m not sure athletic is a key to a good front 6
but brown and Shelton backed up by guy and valentine seems like a good dt group to me.
Flower is a stud. clayborn is a solid lde with wise and rivers backing up.
Hightower and VN are good lbs.
if we had Shelton rivers clayborn and Hightower in the Sb the results would have beeen very different.

"Superior athleticism as a college prospect does not necessarily translate into success in an NFL defense."
--- The NYJ scout who recommended Vernon Gholston.

I was talking about running backs. The ot stuff actually makes a lot of sense
Ok then same thing.
White is a 3rd down back.
Burkhead is a backup.
Hill and Gillislee are dine a dozen jags.
This was certainly a need. We lost the guy who ran for almost 1000 yards.

Look, I am optimistic about the guys they brought in and the guys coming back from injury. However, I really feel like they passed up an opportunity to go and get a LB who can be a difference maker on the field.

Thats the theme for Day 1 IMO. Fortify pass protection and the ground game. Try to get more explosive plays on short passes or in the running game.

Yes, as Belichick predicted, the defense took half the season develop, and was very good for the last half. As far as "miracle", I'd say "rocket science". Unfortunately, Patricia is now gone.

The fact that they finished as well as they did in points allowed is a miracle.

But they got an ol and a rob who can be difference makers on the field.
Face it if HT and VN are healthy there aren’t many snaps for the 3rd lb.

I thought Burkhead played really well, when healthy. He sure did have a lot of injuries last year.....and the year before....but, he had the ability to be an every down back

But he is a backup not a rb1. He is fine in a role.

I would note that our new RB is an excellent blocker, a key for a RB addition.

I'd prefer that Van Noy not be on the field.

It’s not a miracle it’s a sound philosophy and team defense concept.

We need to draft another LB IMO.
