Patriots trade for 49er's OT Trent Brown

Look, I am optimistic about the guys they brought in and the guys coming back from injury. However, I really feel like they passed up an opportunity to go and get a LB who can be a difference maker on the field.
I don't disagree with you Nun, but all the defensive players that we've been talking about (especially the LB's) were gone before we picked. I just think BB got blindsided by the Titan's move for Evans. (So much for Vrabel getting a Christmas Card from the Bellichick family. ;) ) And after Evans went off the board, there wasn't anyone on the defensive side of the ball that was worth the 2 picks where they made them.

Personally, my big question is why they weren't able to trade down at either 23 or 31 to pick up a 4th or 5th round pick. And to answer my own question, maybe no one would deal with them. At this stage of the game, who wants to make a deal with BB and then read the next day how BB snookered him....even if he didn't.

BTW- would it shock anyone if BB traded down from either 43 OR 63 today to fill the "gap"?

We need to acquire another LB.
Would prefer the draft instead of an aging veteran. We went that route last year with meh results. (Harris)

I can't believe BB didn't draft a LB and then traded our 2nd to SF for a T what a fiasco.

Wait What....

NM, None of that actually happened, my bad.

:D

NE targetted Frank Ragnow first and then Evans was next on their list. After that it was Isaiah Wynn.

It certainly appears they may have been targeting another LB until Tennessee made their selection.

They wanted Ragnow from what I understand and then Evans.

Fact is, if we make this trade, it might be a while before the starting OL becomes clear this pre-season with adding Garcia, Wynn and Brown into the mix. I’m a little nervous about Garcia though.
Garcia might be another year away.

But they got an ol and a rob who can be difference makers on the field.
Face it if HT and VN are healthy there aren’t many snaps for the 3rd lb.
Both Van Noy and HT missed time last year. So we need to be prepared for it to potentially happen again.
