Why in the world would David Harris be inactive vs the most power-run-centric
team in the entire league?
I think one concern could be the scrambling ability of the QB, as well as some better suited fits for STs play.

I do agree with you that a good argument could be made for using him, but we’ll have to see what Belichick thinks.

Fack. Would’ve liked to have seen Burkhead and Reiss said that he was hinting at a return. Hoping we get a chance to see him next week.

Yeah Burkhead has sneakily become one of my personal favorites. He has not played a lot this year but he fits this offense so perfectly.. I hope we find a way to extend him.

BTW - Im not sure they are too worried about Henry as some fans and mediots are.

Agreed. Bigger RBs haven't been a problem historically. Sure, you'll find a game here or there (Clev 2011, Pitt 2004 reg season), but those are the exceptions.

Don't sleep on Dion Lewis as a pass catcher. We all know James White has excelled in that area but Dion is just or even more dangerous in the open field. Dion is a legitimate dual threat. On Rex Burkhead he's looked very good everytime he's played but we can say he's comes up with some kind of injury often too. Any Extension should go to Dion Lewis First he's way more valuable. Also in last year stacked RB Draft Two Third Rounders lead the pack in Hunt and Kamara. Third Round good place to find Future RB.

Also in 2015 when when Dion Lewis was discovered and having that super season shortened by injury. He had almost 400yds receiving in 7 Games.

We have a good margin for error in this game. Very small one in AFC-CCGame. No need the rush injured player's back. Let it all hang out if we advance to next week.
That's how I'm looking at it. They should want to play everyone in the playoffs but as the game goes in if the don't need them, no need playing them

Because people on crutches run faster than he does.

With that said while he helps thump Henry, he's a liability with Mariota

its alot to ask of a player to miss a whole season, have 2 weeks of practice and contribute in a playoff game. but as said. If someone goes down to have a guy like that as a backup plan isnt bad.

with Hogan healthy your top 3 WR's are Cooks/Hogan/Amendola....Dorsett is back to a 4th guy role probably wont see the field much as I expect more 2 RB sets.

During the first half of the season, with Hogan healthy, Dorsett averaged about 19% of the offensive snaps. After Hogan was hurt, Dorsett averaged 54% of the offensive snaps.

What happens with WR snap counts for this specific game maybe depends on how frequently they plan on using 3WR sets and how often it seems appropriate to give Hogan (or Amendola) a couple snaps rest. Dorsett has shown that he can block pretty well on certain types of run plays, and the Pats may want to limit Hogan's use on those for this game.

I think having a healthy Chris Hogan is going to make Brandin Cooks even more dangerous. Teams have to respect our #2 WR now. Even on Third downs if we go 3 wide Danny Amendola will be even more dangerous. Pick your poison D did I mention our RB's??:D

White/Lewis can split the passing back role....kind of crazy we have forgotten about superbowl hero james white with burkhead/lewis

and Hogan back should have positive ripple effects across the offense.

im excited to see what james harrison does tonight

OTOH, if the edge guys are doing their jobs, Harris won't need to be chasing down Mariota.

Edge guys are not just DEs in this case but it extends not only to OLBs (f.e. KVN, M.Flowers) but also to some secondary guys to help secure the line. It worked decently vs BUF and NYJ even w/o KVN for most part. You need some speed there. Roberts is the MLB choice in big formations, KVN likely in dime and possibly M.Flowers in 7-DB sets (that probably won't be used as much as vs NYJ).

I like Harris and Id certainly have him over Grissom f.e. and maybe use him over Roberts in certain situations in this particular game but it just might be too hard for him to find a place on the active roster w/o ST value.

Here's what Reiss projects for inactives:

Burkhead, Gillislee, Croston, Jean-Francois, Harris, Grissom, Britt.

That would be my call as well if Branch is in good enough shape.

Interestingly, Lewis became a bigger part of the passing attack in the last four regular season games, even before Burkhead was injured - 19 of Lewis' 35 tgts (54%), 127 of his 214 receiving yards (59%) and 2 of his 3 receiving TDs came in weeks 14-17.

BTW - is there a name for 7-DB sets? If not Id suggest - dwarf (7 dwarfs..)
So: nickel - dime - dwarf

I agree. The backs who give them more trouble are those who get outside.
