No Gilmore, No Rowe at Practice (Weds) [wk 7 vs Atl injury reports & updates]

McCourty is stronger at safety and Harmon is a notoriously poor tackler. Moving him to corner weakens two positions imo.
But it would only happen with 2 injuries and it's still better than a ps guy.

Although captain stone appears very slow responding to how far superior defenses can do worse against the same teams.

captain stone appears very slow PERIOD.

Normally, in Bill I trust, but I can't fight this anymore. Can we just cut Gilmore & give the money to Butler?

I agree. I say, don't change anything up at this point. Whatever these guys are doing, it is working. And so far, the bad-moose deserves a role.

D sux. How do you give up 7 points when BB tampers with the weather like that? Pathetic, 10 win team, first round exit, shades of 2009

Gilmore's our starter. He played better against Tampa.

I agree, and I hope he learns where to line up on the field as a Patriot, when they are not dumbing it down for him to play man to man.

That being said, Bademosi didn't have a training camp and seemed to know where he should be at all times quite nicely.

.

Gilmore worst bb signing by far. He may never play again.

Of course they never dumbed it down for him to only play man but why bother with facts.

... but that contract kind of forces them to play him. Would like see to the backups play a few more games and gauge what was the real problem before:

I would look good out there against Jameis Winston.

Bademosi had no Training Camp in the Pats system and somehow knew where he needed to be tonight against last season's best offense and MVP QB.

Gilmore is a great natural talent. I am rooting for him to learn the mental part in the Pats defense.

It's amazing how people are quick to give up on Gilmore. He will be the starter.

"Amazing" isn't the right word -- it's too nice.

All props to Bademosi -- he may be a New England legend in the making -- but anyone who posts the Patriots D is better off with him/Jones/? starting and Gilmore remaining out? That person needs to be given their fruit cup then asked to put their jammies on to be tucked in for the night...

No doubt Gilmore is the better athlete, but athleticism isn't the end all when you don't know where you fit in the system. There's a reason Kyle Van Noy was out there tonight for the Patriots, and not Jamie Collins.

The best of all worlds would be if Gilmore eventually learns the system.

Apologies for the repetition (I've posted this multiple times in previous weeks) but show me the metrics that say Gilmore has been the problem or one of the main problems? With 5 games under his belt the video and stats should be plentiful to show his cover man assignment or his cover area was giving up too high a share of the passing success against the Patriots D.
I've seen 1 film play breakdown where it suggests Gilmore blew his assignment (he let the wr go when he should have stayed on him --- or vice versa), otherwise I haven't seen any metrics.
I'm willing to buy into the concern about Gilmore. I agree better athleticism does not equal the better player. But as of right now it has been a number of media people saying it, a number of posters saying it, yet a dearth of metrics to verify Gilmore is the problem.

There's no need to pee in someone's fruit cup just because they appreciate what bademosi has done to help our secondary out. It's not their fault Gilmore is out. We're 5-2, #1 in the division, people are happy the secondary is finally playing better and d is turning it around. Bademosi earned his playing time so you shouldn't hate people for liking him:

I'm puzzled by that response. I am not critical of anyone for appreciating Bademosi (I posted "all props to Bademosi" and greatly appreciate what he did last night). I'd be ecstatic if Bademosi can light up practice and force his way into the starting lineup. That almost certainly would mean we will have improved as well as have a new CB who looks to have a bright future. And I am extremely happy about the win (you'll see my postings that I thought our chances to win were tangible and our D was/would be looking up).
But I am critical of those taking one game and extrapolating it into Bademosi should be Gillmore's replacement. That's game day thread style hysterics that should be called out. Gilmore is a 5 year(??) starter with pretty decent, or better, credentials. Bademosi is a rookie with barely more experience than 7 days. That's not unappreciative of Bademosi or peeing in anyone's fruitcup -- as it were -- it's peeing on the inability of posters to see beyond one game/ability to overlook some pretty solid facts.
