To me, the Jets game is the smoking gun for the Brady exonerators. You hear "I think it's been going on for a long time" "Years probably". Yet why was he b*tching about them being 16 in a HOME game. Where was the "deflator" then?

There is no logic to these arguments. The league and it's mediots have been backed into a corner. They have no solid argument scientifically or otherwise. They are now manipulating things that cannot be and selling that as the truth.

And didn't Brady say that they should show the refs the rule book? Yeah, the mark of a cheater, telling the refs to follow the rules.

Deflator means something to Felger type guys because they can't or won't understand the science involved in deflategate. They put Deflator and Bathroom trip together and get cheating.

The importance of the AEI report and the Steve McIntyre blog is that they show that Walt Anderson's recollection of using the Logo gauge, which was 0.4 psi out of calibration, was accurate. Which means that the loss of pressure due to the weather , (1.2 psi) and the gauge (0.4 psi) explains the readings taken at halftime. 12.5 - 1.6 = 10.9 psi. There are other factors such as rain temperature and evaporation etc... but the main theme is that words such as "Deflator" have 0 implication if the science states otherwise.

Exactly right, he even admits he can't understand the science but he understands the text to mean, get rid of the jacket and go deflate those balls! What!, he had nothing to do with the balls the game was in Green bay, course Tony the parrot and the other moron never said a peep.

Jonathan is more of a cut-throat opportunist that carries a grudge. If he saw no way to win vs. the NFL, I think he may have dropped the case. That said, I can't imagine him bending over and not appealing.

I read an article in which Felger compared the Ideal Gas Law to Quantum physics. haha Mazz once said that in order for the ball to become 2 psi deflated the game time temp would have had to be -11 degrees which was a result of someone not using absolute pressure when using the Gas Law. Actually many well known science minds made that same error which unfortunately helped fuel the Anti Patriot rage machine but it has been 5 months since the first days of deflategate and while most have caught on that the weather could (did) have played a major role in this, they are still stuck on a single word in a text message.

A little side note regarding science laws: You do not have to understand why they are a law because they have already been proven to be accurate. You only have to know how to use them to get the answer you are looking for. If I told you the law of the Universe was X + Y = Z and you knew what the values of X and Y were then guess what? You would have the answer you were looking for without ever having to understand the entire Universe. Although, I'm pretty sure most people understand that when air is heated it expands and when it cools it contracts and that the Ideal Gas Law basically tells you how much.

He said "deflator" a couple of times but Wells put it in his report about a thousand times. It's in the footnotes, it has it's own chapter and has it's own bullet points. Hell, I'll bet that it's somehow hypnotically encrypted into the entire report. I think the only reason that "Deflator" wasn't in the report more than it was is that they needed to make room for the word "bathroom" which is in there about 2000 times. If you removed those two words from the 243 page Wells report you would end up with a 97 page document.

McNally could be my twin brother. He's 48. I'm 48. He's "chubby". I'm chubby. He needs to deflate. I need to deflate. He takes a leak before he goes on the field. I take a leak before I go to home depot.

Making taking a leak before you do anything a priority is a middle aged chubby guy thing.

And to add to the understanding from a chubby guys perspective, I would hate to have to go into a bathroom with a bag of footballs and grab them one by one to let air out of them. Bending down to grab one, then pulling my pants back up, bumping into the walls, putting it back into the bag.........no way. If I was Brady's inflated ball guy he would have to just throw whatever the refs gave him because if I had only 90 seconds to either check the footballs or take a leak.......I'm taking a leak.

All very valid points, but I believe he also was not even in need to rush - the game was delayed and he had a lot more than 90 seconds, potentially, to deflate the balls. Correct me if I'm wrong, guys, but that seems equally valid - why would a big guy deflate all the footballs in a ninja-like 90 seconds, when he had plenty of time?

Yes he did. Had he ripped the report to shreds legally, there would have been zero chance for the league to go after him. He would have so much ammo that even they would have to beg for forgiveness. Instead, he capitulated with is fairly alarming. In a business sense, I wonder how many people he has stepped on to get where he is? Maybe none considering he cowered in this instance.

...which is why the reality of everyday life isn't exciting enough. With the advent of reality TV, I believe some people truly believe life is more exciting that it really is.

The comments section are like a lesson in how to move goal posts. One guy says Brady should be punished because we couldn't see his texts to McNally, then when it's pointed out they had them from McNally he says the punishment is deserved because they only allowed one interview, then when it's pointed out they had four they go on to McNally breaking the rule by taking the balls to the field without an escort, then it's pointed out that's not against the rules and it becomes something else. Round and round we go.

Steve McIntyre is still writing about this on his blog.

Today he was writing about how Exponent misrepresented 3 graphs using master gauge curves while presenting them as logo gauge curves. Basically, Exponent's own work shows the Patriots and Colts balls fell in line with each other, but Exponent misprepresented this either intentionally or not.


Here's a quote from him.

I could be wrong, but from the little I have read, I don't think he denies climate change. He has criticized the models, specifically the hockey graph, as exaggerating the rate at which climate change is occurring. And he's done it on technical/statistical point of view rather than a conceptual view. Of course that made him very unpopular with people who are trying to raise awareness of climate change, many of the same people who used to cite his work on the subject.
