I didn't expect the Patriots to win without Brady and Gronk. I was wrong.

In any case, I can't imagine how humiliated Goodell must feel and how royally upset the owners must be who supported him. The league put the Patriots at the primetime game for the Cardinals to eviscerate us and make Goodell's wrath felt. Instead, the Patriots beat the Cardinals without our two best players.

Goodell is a failure and got to watch the Patriots make him look like a child on national tv. At least he gets a boatload of cash as a balm for his stupidity.

Really, it was 3 of our 4 best offensive players if you count Dion Lewis.

Hugely impressive win. Then again, I did call 24-21 Pats in the alamo thread, so the outcome is not too shocking to me.

What IS shocking is how well Garoppalo and Blount played. Yes, Blount had the fumble (which I think was more just a great play by whatshisface on the Cards), but he had some huge plays. And our CBs were pretty damned good given what they had to face.

Deflategate was not about bringing down the pats. The ultimate goal is clearly to setup article 46 as the main focus for the NFLPA so the owners can get their 18 game regular season.

Goodell is a douche, but he doing exactly what the owner wants. The fans hate him and blame him for everything wrong with the NFL, as the owners test new markets and new strategies. If they ultimately fail they can fire Goodell as the blame guy and put in some new commissioner.

Do you really think 32 billionaires
would allow some idiot to ruin their multi billion dollar business for the sake of taking down the pats?

facepalm

I will take it a step further. The NFL has changed since Goodell took over as commissioner.

The game is no longer the main focus and parity is not the main goal. It's about creating a story for entertainment and one of the best ways to do that is by having a villain. The pats are the best team in football and the narrative has been they cheat to win and therefore they fill that villain role. Think WWE and how the champion is normally the villain who only wins because he cheats when the ref isn't looking.

The game is more interesting to watch when you either love the team playing or hate the team playing. Since there are 32 teams, if true parity was achieved and each team won the SB once every 32 years then ratings wouldn't be all that exciting. But having a team that is universally hated being in almost every SB generates the most ratings since more ppl are watching to see them lose.

From a financial perspective it makes no sense to hurt the patriots and prevent them from winning. The best formula is to paint them as cheaters and still have them compete every year which is exactly what is happening.

It was 50% about taking the patriots down and 50% about goddell finding someone to discipline harshly to make him not look like a racist.

He has said 100 times it doesn't matter who you are. Why is he saying that? Because beast is white and all if his major suspensions have been black players.

Stop rationalizing and minimizing Goodell's perverted, criminal actions. Ripping Brady off the roster for the first four games of the season is not "having them compete". Jeezus krist ....

Patriots just gave Goodell the Ol' right there Fred!
