Of course you can't play without a left tackle
And Trent Brown is a FA in 2024 at age 30…..
He loves Foxboro, but I think he will want more $$$ than a LT on a rookie deal…

I'd draft a couple of tackles in the 2nd or 3rd. Let's be real if they can't find guys in later rounds whether a wr or tackle that become thuney type players or gronks this team is cooked. I personally want a wr in the first but I realize their track record for drafting sucksAnd Trent Brown is a FA in 2024 at age 30…..

That is true. No WR is worth the 5th pick but by pick 14 you start to get into the range where WR is definitely a consideration. My order of preference at 14 would be:
1. Carter if by some miracle this scandal and disastrous Pro Day him slide to 14.
2. One of top 3 LTs (I think that they may have to trade up to 12, to jump ahead of the Jets).
3. Witherspoon (no chance that Gonzalez makes it to 14 after that combine performance.
4. JSN.
Give me JSN any day over Jeudy. I agree with those who say offer 47, take it or leave it. The Broncos would have (reportedly) traded him for a 2nd at the deadline last year and got no bites. Why would he be worth 2nd and a player now?
100I'm getting weary of this "savior wide receiver" mentality that's all the rage these days.
Crazy theory I have re: the tackles. I think guards and centers will become more important than tackles if they decide to ride it out with Mac. I had a lull in competition from a different sport I coach so I decided to fire up some NFL all-22 and do some study for a palate cleanse. Mac isn't an adept slider. Granted, we are used to seeing the best slider EVER in 12, but when he did get b-gap in protection he was deadly accurate. That's when he threw guys open and actually had some zip on his balls. Reminded me of Brees in a way. And if we remember correctly Sean Payton invested heavily in his guards and center whilst with the Saints. They ran mug protection, whereas the Patriots traditionally ran cup protection. Think half square vs half circle. The times Mac looked like a legit starting NFL qb was when he had this protection. I am beginning to think they slightly divest in the tackles and go more heavy, anchor based guards and centers.
Good point!Isn't that going to be the Packers' pick?
100%. I think the FA strategy is beginning to reveal this might be their thinking.Great post. I have read about the Payton approach of two very strong guards and a center to keep Brees clean. Makes a lot of sense with Mac. We have Andrews, Strange and Onwenu, and if Strange makes Y2 jump, I think the weak link is Andrews. I still would love a strong LT at #14. Then an Andrews replacement or guard in R4. R1 and R4. WR and CB otherwise, although we could sign Murphy-Bunting with our cap space and have a lot more flexibility on draft day.
I think Rhamondre is a very legit back who I’d like to keep long term. M. Jones is a very intriguing player who would require quite a bit to part with. He is kind of the definition of jack of all trades, master of none. And of course Mac is going nowhere right now unless we are bringing in Lamar Jackson.I'm with you. Barmore, Dugger, the 2nd year Jones', Mondre and Mac are my list of untouchables. I know, I know Mac isn't super popular currently but I still think he can be a very good QB. I have a theory on protection changes that could dramatically assist that I think they will implement this year. If I'm correct on that hunch, I think it will render him worth a king's ransom. But I won't derail the thread.
Sutton is just in a three year slump, guys! He’s totally going to rebound in year four!
I have a hard time taking the Jeudy reports seriously when all the same sources are also hyping up the washed up guy with a big fully guaranteed salary.
Mac is worth a 2nd minimum in this league, so giving them 2 2nds is the equivalent of a mid first rounder. Youre absolutely right.I'm with you. He's about to become the most important player on this defense. This is his year.I’d part with Dugger. I like him but he is a mixed bag.
The guy who HAS watched him play a lot is our own BCG and he raves about him and would take him over any of top first round WR guys (I think) He's posted that he might even give up the first. I wouldn't give up the first myself.Watch him play. The last thing they need is another washed split end who can't separate.
2nd and Parker?
