Vrabel have a lot of work to do: this Defense is not good without Gonzo.
Defense was as bipolar as the offense. Had half of the game they looked fantastic from the end of the second possession to halfway through the 3rd. The rest of the game looked awful.

I’ve never been a fan of Maye, I always thought his ceiling was Mitchell Trubisky. He was terrible today, could have easily had three more INTS. He has broke 20 points once in his career, still tied with Joe Milton for career wins. In Milton’s defense he has only played in 1 NFL game.

Should have traded out at 4, Campbell was terrible today.

Still a team devoid of any talent.

Few things:

- What the hell is the timetable on Gonzo? We need him back.

- OL looked more serviceable than it has for awhile. But still subpar. Run blocking was very weak.

- On that note, Stevenson doesn't feel like "it", or much of anything anymore...

- Maye's accuracy issues continue... Getting real annoying to see his overthrows. Decision making was bad. Just did not like much of his performance today outside of a few drives in the first half.

- Defense seemed to get picked apart over the middle a lot? Am I remembering that wrong?

- I failed to see a team with an ultraviolent, hardcore identity today. I didn't see much of an identity at all. Troubling when that's what your HC is apparently best at.

Conclusion: Vrabel has a big task on his hands and long way to go. But there's a handful of things to work on, instead of the usual "absolutely everything, from coaches to owners to qb to WR to press conferences to...
. Etc.," - fingers crossed.

Was McD a Vrabel hire or Kraft?

Seems like Maye's play style doesn't suit McDs philosophy on offense.

Offense didn’t have "it". Watching these other games today I see exciting explosive plays. Not so from Skippy and Maye today. Lack of talent at receiver? Lack of speed?? Lack of coaching?

I’m also realizing people have entirely different timelines in relation to Maye’s development.

Some are saying this is his rookie year. Some are already wanting to draft a new QB. He’s getting this year no matter what. We just have to hope it gets better than this.

The Pats have a mini drought going against the Raiders, 0 for their last 3.

When Vrabel was urging caution on the optimism for this team, he wasn’t kidding. There’s a dearth of talent.

Mayo got trashed last year for calling out the roster and players, yet Vrabel gets a pass on both. Vrabel knew exactly what he was taking on so shouldn't be complaining. If a team had stacked roster, the prior HC would still be there. That's not hard to understand. He comes out completely flat today and loses to a mediocre Raiders team.

Maye is exactly the same player he was last season where he puts a couple throws/run and a scoring drive together before going on massive droughts of even moving the ball until the game is out of reach. He doesn't seem to have much urgency at any point during the game. We saw film in the preseason that he missing guys wide open, so we need to watch to see if that was the case today.

How does Henderson get tapped out with 5 touches and then calls it a day when they stil had the lead?

2nd straight game Gino completely shreds the defense.

Punting at midfield down 10 with 5:21 to go was idiotic.

The 2020 uniforms seriously need to go. I'm tired of looking at those.

Campbell wasn’t wonderful today either. I guess that should not be surprising but a game like that won’t quiet the critics.
Campbell gets a pass. First time he really is going in the deep end with NFL starting defenses

Hey what’s expect? Us lay a 50burger on em? I really would NOT want to be the fly on the wall in the locker room after that. Can imagine a tirade by Vrabes…

I'm very disappointed, i expected better. The raiders who had the same record as the pats seemed much more prepared and disciplined than the pats. I'm a long time casual observer, but it looked to me that the o=line still stinks, not much better than last year.Maye threw a pick because he couldnt step forward into his throw because of pressure up the middle. None of the running backs did much either.
On the defense the raiders wideouts were running wild. There were many times there wasn't a patriot d back with in ten feet of the wide receiver. It will get better as time goes along, But im still surprised how bad the team still is

Talent level isn’t drastically different than last year so not surprising to see little improvement in terms of explosiveness and elite plays. But god, I thought I’d see a much smarter and strategically sound team that would be grinders. That first drive (both sides of the ball) and second half was pathetic.

Vrabel and Maye have some soul searching to do.

What to say, where to start? Defense holds the Raiders to 20, but with all the explosive big plays the Raiders had, you’d think they would’ve scored more. 1st half looked like a game until the epic collapse and failure to do anything before the half. Game went right to **** after that. Maye looked no different than last year. I expect some growing pains in this offense but he still made the same mental mistakes as last year. Not to mention the balls that sailed on him. Still an issue. That’s disappointing. Will Campbell looked solid until he didnt. 2 false start penalties. Could’ve had a couple more. He was moving a hair quick all game long. Pass rush had its moments but just wasn’t consistent enough to make a big impact. Vrabel has his work cut out for him. I hate to say it but this team has a severe lack of talent and a lot of inexperience. It’s going to be a long season and I think the coaches know that.

I'm hoping those who have been quick to badmouth a certain someone and suggest the Patriots fortunes would've been gone radically differently had he been relieved of his duties sooner, realize how difficult it is to win games in the NFL and consistently coach/manage a contending team.

Plugging in a new coach/GM isn't that simple. Feels apt to mention in light of this week 1 game and the narrative that his presence was holding the team back from success. This **** is HARD.

I've probably been one of the bigger Bill supporters but honestly **** him at this point with his weird scouting ban, clearly that guy has some weird ass issues and we would one hundred percent be in a worse situation with his ****ty attitude against everything NE. It'd be unbearable rn, especially with that fraud Lombardi, the bloated frog-ass human at his side.

You're not wrong that it is hard, but we definitely would have benefitted from moving on earlier from Bill, imo.
