Vrabel have a lot of work to do: this Defense is not good without Gonzo.
Its not just gonzos gone the whole defensive backfield seemed to be playing like the keystone cops, out of position not covering

Defense was as bipolar as the offense. Had half of the game they looked fantastic from the end of the second possession to halfway through the 3rd. The rest of the game looked awful.
I strongly disagree.

The Defense played well enough to win this game and well enough to hold to win against most of our opponents.

Yes, the staff and players did make mistakes on Defense, but we need to focus on where the problem is. We need to develop an Offense. And unless Stevenson is injured, he should be our #3 RB.

I’m also realizing people have entirely different timelines in relation to Maye’s development.

Some are saying this is his rookie year. Some are already wanting to draft a new QB. He’s getting this year no matter what. We just have to hope it gets better than this.
My timeline is that he's a 22 years old, going into year 2, with it being his first year with a new OC who runs a much tougher scheme to absorb mentally than the one he had last year. So there will be growing pains.

I'd be lying if I said he met my expectations today, but it'll improve. Need to have some patience.

Very disappointing performance.

Maye, whom I had high hopes for, looks worse. He needs to do something to burn off his hyper-nerves before taking the field. Also, the game seems to be running too fast for him; McD overloading his mental processes? "Don't take losses; don't take big hits; don't turn the ball over. Oh, which one, which one now?"

Boutte was good. HH was decent.

Landry had a good game.

I'm very uneasy about the D coaching.

Can we demote Rham in favor of a Gibson/Henderson tandem? Surely the guy who had Derrick Henry for his glory years can see Rham is nothing of the sort.

Pop Douglas will soon be watching Chism take his snaps.

The excuses for Maye have to stop.
He does not have “it”
He does not make players around him better
He is inaccurate and makes poor decisions
He was never really forced to compete for starters job

Tired of the losing for this team going on 6 straight years.

Not enough talented players.
True until proven otherwise.

Blow it up. Jk.

I’ll be different, there is flashes of Maye being special but we are seeing too many easy throws missed and slower processing.

Being great in the classroom and applying it in game situations are two different things.

Now Diggs got involved, Williams got a catch.

I wanted to see more downfield passes called this is what we drafted Willams for and why a guy like him or Tyquan is needed.

Stevenson looked slow, and should no longer be taking snaps from Henderson or Gibson.

I really felt Mcdnaiels play calling was a mixed bag.

Maye never seems to get in a rhythm, this is what I saw in school and this is why I was torn at the potential of Maye and the play of Mccarhy.

That being said we need to do anything we can to get Maye in some kind of timing rhythm and get him comfortable.

It always looks to me like he’s more Cam Newton than Tom Brady.

Moving on the secondary will be fine with time and Gonzalez.

Where was Dugger anywhere today’)
The D line I felt played well,

Spillane was meh
I saw glimpses of brilliance but leaving players open down field so often to convert those third downs is brutal,

Arroyo the kicker was a mixed bag, and I don’t know if he is a answer or a question mark.

Campbell was a mixed bag but I will give him and this team a few more games before I jump to any conclusions.

I feel like they can only get better.

Maye seems better when he’s improvising than when he’s sticking to the play…. Can’t keep making the easy stuff look difficult and that was his big problem

rooting for baltimore big tonite.....not the best phrasing.....rooting for baltimore hard tonite....no def. not that. how about just rooting for baltimore tonite.

Perhaps they need to let him play backyard football like Kermit

Definitely not the Patriots so many were used to for twenty years

Maye looked bad, but it takes time to pickup this offense and his oline play isn't helping

I'm hoping those who have been quick to badmouth a certain someone and suggest the Patriots fortunes would've been gone radically differently had he been relieved of his duties sooner, realize how difficult it is to win games in the NFL and consistently coach/manage a contending team.

Plugging in a new coach/GM isn't that simple. Feels apt to mention in light of this week 1 game and the narrative that his presence was holding the team back from success. This **** is HARD.
Your hoodied hero who is complete trash without Brady has bigger things to worry about than the Patriots…like trying to keep his seat cool after stinking up his first 2 games.

I didn't see any flashes of Maye looking special today. Competent, maybe, but not special.

I’m not feeling Josh McDaniels…
Outside of Brady, did he have any success with any other QB?

Maye needs to really improve this season or we might be looking at another QB next year.

Our o-line has not been good at all. They can’t block and the run game is a non starter because they are so bad. No running back can succeed behind this line.

Our secondary has struggled. Outside of the one interception they haven’t done a good job at all.

Gonzo needs to be back asap and stay healthy or we gonna have a very bad season in the secondary.

He lacks confidence or at least it comes across that way.

My pre-season concern about Maye was validated today.
