There are two reason: 1. To keep up with appearances since succession guarantees are verboten because if the Rooney Rule. 2. Keep the Krafts feet to the fire so they have renew the succession guarantee and possibly sweeten the offer a little.

Per sources, Kliff Kingsbury is finalizing a deal to become the Head Coach of the Arizona Cardinals
