It will be worth it. The guy has basketball size balls and/or smarts(so long as he knew the rules).

I believe it’s a risk free play once the kicking team touches it but does not down it. The return team can advance it but there’s no downside risk. Even if you fumble and lose the ball you the return team can opt to take the ball where it was first touched by the punting team, apparently.
