I haven't done this in a few years, but I'm gonna try to do this again. Obviously, we don't have to worry about the Offseason for a while (hopefully in over a month from now), but I want to start this now to keep track of the coaching changes. I hope to also add as much information around the NFL Offseason as possible for this site. Throughout the offseason, I will update this any time an NFL transaction is made. Regarding signings, I will try to add most signings, but I will not add all of the signings that occur before the free agency period begins (i.e. Futures contracts). I will update the thread as often as I can. Regarding coaching/Personnel Department changes, I will also work to update those as well. If there are any signings, trades, etc. that I miss, please post to let me know.

Note: When I have done this in year's past, I am not allowed to edit posts after a certain amount of time and there is a character limit so it can get a little messy. Not sure if the settings have changed, but I will try to keep it as organized as I can.

There are a few couple of other dates that might be interesting to include:
1) date to designate franchise players
2) date to designate RFA tenders

2013 NFL Calendar - for some of the missing dates, here is last year's calendar as a reference point: 2012-13 Calendar: Key Dates for the Pats & the NFL

March 12 is the big day; it's the start of the new league year and free agency. Last year March 5 was the deadline to tag a franchise player, so I would guess that it will be March 4 this year.

I didn't realize BUF fired their entire staff. Lots of hiring to do up there in upstate NY. I believe I read that they are looking at Ken Whisenhunt to fill the HC opening.

Bowe or Jennings to the pats? That would be cool to see.

(Fired) Coach's Updates.

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter
Former Bears HC Lovie Smith is expected to interview over weekend for Buffalo Bills' head coaching position, according to multiple reports.

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter
From @mortreport and me: Chiefs on verge of a deal with Andy Reid. One source said “the major issues have been discussed and agreed upon.”

Seems that Reid is going to be with the Chiefs most likely. Lovie Smith.. in Buffalo could be interesting. He could probably do something with the defenisve talent in Buffalo....

Lovie Smith had tons of talent in Chicago but never made anything happen. I hope he does land in Buffalo. I hope Reid goes to the NFC--Chicago or Cardinals--because he is a good coach that can cause some problems.

Re: (Fired) Coach's Updates.

Lovie to Buffalo, YES PLEASE. Brady will pick apart that cover 2 all day long.

Re: (Fired) Coach's Updates.

There is already a Buffalo coaching thread discussing Lovie and Whisenhut.

Re: (Fired) Coach's Updates.

I don't get Reid going to K.C., because Reid is a west coast offense and 4-3 guy, and that's about the opposite of what K.C. is. On the other hand, Reid going there could spring some players the Patriots would have interest in.

There were reports that he "could" still interview with Arizona and San Diego if he chooses so

  • The #1 pick and first draft slot.

  • 5 Pro Bowlers.

  • Reid wants to bring his own GM - Tom Heckert.

  • Mark Donavan is already in the KC front office and has worked with Reid in Philly.

  • Reid used to be on the coaching staff at the U of Missouri and still has associates in the area.

  • An extra 15 million on the 2013 KC cap in forwarded cap dollars from 2012.

  • Arrowhead is a huge advantage if you can field a winning team.

I get the positives. I don't get him dealing with the negatives.

The great part of this is that the Chiefs fan base, which has behaved horribly, is going to learn a lesson in being careful of what they ask for. Reid's been garbage without McNabb and Johnson, and he'll be going into a situation where he has power over personnel. He'll win a little bit early because there's good talent already on the roster. As he molds things the way he wants them, he'll be a disaster.
