Jacoby Brissett

Garoppolo has been riding the pine for 2 weeks in SF too. It is unlikely he will start the next game either.

So? The situation out there is unique.

Besides that has nothing to do with evaluating Brissett as a player.

Since Dorsett has basically not played because he had no training camp and was buried on the depth chart, not sure how you can say this with any certainty.
Brissett did not have a training camp either and he is playing the most difficult position on the field yet you still referenced his stats a few posts back.

It is not unique if he was the second coming as many like to suggest he could have found his way onto the field for a 1 win team.

You need to think deeper about what is going on out there

He's fun to watch but it looks like the Colts are going to let him get obliterated.

I expect if Dorsett had been forced into action from game one as the team's #1 wr his stats would be a better too.

Possibly because they don't want to get him killed.

He's had 2 training camps with the Pats. Zero in Indy's system.

You really want to quote his stats in Indy?????

What he's done in that situation (not to mention THAT OL) is incredible.

.
Oh please. You seriously think the 'system' the Colts are running is remotely as complex as the one the Pats run?

He's brutal in the 2nd half of games, he can't close.

Colts 2nd half scoring

Cardinals - 3pts
Browns - 3pts
Seahawks - 3pts
49ers - 17pts
Titans - 9pts
Jaguars - 0pts
Bengals - 10pts
Texans - 10pts
Steelers - 7pts

= 6.88 pts per 2nd half in Brissett starts.

He is what he is, a nice backup, the Colts offense is also averaging a touchdown less than they did last year with Luck dropped from 25.7 to 18 points a game.

People need to slow their roll on the Brissett hype here's the REAL facts, he's 3-6 in his starts and and his wins are against the Browns, the 49ers and Tom Savage at this exact moment neither has won a football game.

His record aside, let's try an experiment.

Have someone kick the living **** out of you for 30 minutes every Sunday. Then, take 12 minutes to rest, and go out and get your ass kicked for another 30 minutes each time.

Report back about your proficiency, at whatever you're doing, in the second 30 minutes.

AFAIK, the Colts don't use EP. Their plays are in a different language. Even if English is simpler than Chinese, they both still take time to learn. Brissett has been quite impressive. He just needs to learn some touch.

On the other hand, Pagano is a tank commander at this point. Replacing him with a mediocre interim HC would probably ruin draft picks. The Colts blowing a half-time lead is so consistent it seems almost intentional. Pagano is just that bad.

The kid is playing some good football the past few weeks.

Unlike Garoppolo we had him under control for a few more years. Trading him has been a mistake, so far anyway.

Happy to see the kid making the most of his opportunity.
I'll never understand why they traded brisset and for so little. they must have known they were going to trade garoppolo. it was a mistake. no doubt about it.

Yup, in retrospect the right move was clearly to keep Jacoby and trade Jimmy when his trade value was at the highest in the offseason.

We'd have a younger backup QB on cheap money for a few years and a higher draft pick(s). Ah well.

Jacoby's problem is simple:

He doesn't fit the Patriots system, and he's not a good enough QB to rework the entire system in order to keep him around.

Sorry, I don't understand this. Are you saying that what is “proven“ to be a mistake now can later “prove“ not to be a mistake?

You’re right, you don’t understand. What point are you even trying to make, that you don’t understand how the word “prove” is used in this context?

To answer your question the Patriots missed on having a good backup QB who was young and cheap for this season and the next 2 seasons.

I'm pretty sure he's making more than Hoyer over the next 2 seasons.

Possibly because they don't want to get him killed.

While I agree with that statement that Indy is going to get him killed, Jacoby has got to protect himself better too.
There is admiration for a QB putting his neck on the line to get the extra yards, however, NFL defenders are too big, too strong, too well trained, too expert at tackling. A QB can't be running like that in the middle of the field near the LOS among DL, LBs and safeties. He's increasing too much the chances of a violent tackle.

Slide/go down Jacoby! Live to fight another day...

You cannot get more in a trade if there's no team to make that offer.

In the QB rich draft that is coming I doubt we could have received more.

I'll take Hoyer over Jacoby as a backup to Brady the next few years.

Except it was already announced that JG will start the next game against Seattle.
