Dunno if this got posted but Mike Mitchell to the Steelers.

Per Rappaport, Earl Mitchell signed with the Dolphins and Starks will be staying with Miami, as well.

Also, from Schefter:

G Chris Williams signing a four-year, $13.5 million deal that includes $5.5 million guaranteed with the Buffalo Bills.

Yeah. They gave him 5 / $25M. Rather rich for him, IMO.

He had a good season last year, but might have benefited from the talent around him. Not really sure where I'd rank him overall, personally.

3 From La Canfora:

The Eagles beat out the Redskins for the services of Seattle LB Chris Maragos, an elite special teams performer

Jags have agreed to terms with Dekoda Watson

The Giants have waived/failed physical David Baas

Per Rappaport, the Patriots are one of the teams who've called the Bucs about Revis.

Starks is a very good move for Miami.

Damn it! I wanted the Pats to sign Starks, but I hear it is $8 million a year which seems to be a bit high for a guy on the wrong side of 30. Still a solid player and if he doesn't hit the age wall in the next two years, he should live up to his contract.

Absolutely. They'd franchised him last year, and early reports have them getting him for a decent amount less than that this year.

is jimmy graham's tag included in saints payroll or not until he signs it? they have a hell if a team with Byrd. brees with a defense is bad news for the rest of the league. hes really only had a good defense twice. last year and the year they won it all. hopefully graham destroys their caproom..

Bummer, Starks could have been a good signing for us. I wonder what the contract looks like.

Ian Rapoport ?@RapSheet 26s
Jared Allen wants his fair value after averaging 13 sacks. I’m told he’d be at peace living his life without football if he doesn’t get it.

High amount of love of the game right there.

So much wrong I don't know where to start
The numbers don't matter if they hit often enough. The numbers don't matter if they miss too often. The numbers only matter if they are working for you. The notion that Belichick's way is the right and only way is absurd, as we've seen proven every year since 2004. The bottom line is that the Patriots starting missing too often in the draft from 2006-2009, and they started missing too often in FA starting, probably, with the 2005 season. And, despite what you seemed to be implying, there is a vast middle area between shopping only at Walmart and shopping only on Rodeo drive.
You incessant strawman that there are 2 choices; BB is perfect or BB sucks is ridiculous. No one ever has said BB makes no mistakes. They are saying overall he does way better than most anyone else doing it. Of course that adds up to his methods are good, because the results prove that they are.

No, he's not. Talib is a full time player who apparently has a chronic hip
issues that's bad enough to cost him some games, but not bad enough to keep him out of the NFL. It wasn't too bad for Belichick to pay him millions last year, that's for certain.
He paid him 5mill for 1 year. He did that BECAUSE of the concerns that make 6/57mill and 26 guaranteed stupid.

As for paying Talib, I'd have to know what other options were/are still available in order to give a definitive answer to that, but Talib was apparently paid market value for being a top 4 CB in this year's FA.
The other options don't really matter when you factor in the injury issue. You scream from the rooftops about drafting or acquiring players with injury histories being a terrible decision, and now you want to give 26 mill guaranteed to a guy who couldn't play in the last 2 AFCCGs. You truly talk out of both sides of your mouth.

You can't have it both ways. You're either fine with paying out the big bucks for a FA, or you're not.
He isn't asking to have it both ways, he is using his brain. Paying big money for a player who is worth it is good. Paying big money for a player who is not is bad.

If you are, you've got no call to complain about people being pissed that Talib got away. If you aren't, you're probably going to be in for a long period of disappointment once Brady retires, one way or the other.

There are almost no examples of teams winning Championships by signing big name Free Agents. There is no call to say that not having that philosophy will cause disappointment. You are miles off on this one.

One need not sign 50 big name free agents in order to improve the team. Avoiding paying market value to high end players in order to sign the Michael Jenkins's of the world is stupid resource management, though.
And of course you know that your silly strawman argument that a fringe player signed to compete for a job on short money has anything to do with going after high end players. But it gives you a way to avoid facing facts.
The Patriots spend to the cap. Michael Jenkins didn't prevent a big signing. Brady, Mayo, Mankins, Vollmer, Gronk, Hernandez, Wilfork and Talib to name a few in 2013 did.
You seem to think the team can just go sign whoever they want because it allows you to whine.

You post failed on every level.

after Talib(9+ a year) and Ward(6-7) a year i'm back to asking

How do the Broncos have any money left to add ware?

Also I'm going to love watching Gronk literally run over talib next year. maybe we SHOULD bring in steve smith and have him school talib as well.

We answered you before..they had about 25 mill in cap...cutting champ saved them 10 million alone. They can get anyone they want
