The Patriots got their first rookie under contract on Wednesday, reaching an agreement with sixth-round draft choice OLB/DE Markell Carter on a 4-year deal.
Alvin Nelson of Cannon & Nelson Sports told ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss that it's Carter's dream to play in New England, and is looking forward to hopefully being able to contribute to this fooball team.
"We're excited for Markell to live out his childhood dream and hopefully go in and help continue the success of the Patriots," Nelson told Reiss following the agreement.
According to Reiss, Carter's deal is the first agreement among the Patriots' nine draft choices.
Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald reported on Twitter that Carter received a $94K signing bonus, and also has escalators in the 4th year of the deal for playing time.
