Here’s a rundown of what we learned from Day 4 of the 2026 New England Patriots training camp:
Attendance:
PUP Harold Landry, CJ Dippre
NFI: Brenden Schooler, Terrell Jennings, and Gabe Jacas
Jacas was spotted on the field in street clothes observing the practice
Injuries: Carlton Davis, Charles Woods (Heat), Rhamondre Stevenson (Illness)
Notes From Practice:
Practice with Helmets and Shells on Tuesday with a little more contact.
Play of the Day – Tell me if you have heard this one before! Kayshon Boutte beat Kevin Byard deep for a 40-yard TD catch. Boutte has been the star of camp so far. He has an unquestioned rapport with Drake Maye on the deep passes, and that can’t be ignored. Meanwhile, AJ Brown and Romeo Doubs have struggled in camp on getting on the same page with Maye, and Kyle Williams can’t seem to get any reps with Drake Maye and is falling to the 7th WR. Boutte had 4 catches on the day in competitive 11 on 11.
Kayshon Boutte: From undesirable to undeniable? – Nick Cattles
My new nickname for Kayshon Boutte is “Big Play Boutte”
When asked about Robert Kraft telling the media that the team has offered Gonzalez the highest contract ever for the position, Christian Gonzalez responded: “doesn’t want to handle contact negotiations through the media”. That horse has left the barn in training camp. – Meghan Ottolini WEEI
Robert Kraft is trying to use the fanbase and media as a tool to negotiate the Christian Gonzalez contract. That’s why he said what he did the other day. It’s not an accident. Gonzo and his team don’t like the negotiating ploy. That’s it. It’s not complicated –Savage
Gabe Jacas mystery update from Greg Bedard at Boston Sports Journal: “I asked another AFC team what they had on Jacas’ medicals, which seem to have been the holdup on his contract.”
“At the combine medical checkup, Jacas was mostly healthy, but he did nothing besides the 40. [ Note: he didn’t run the 40 at the Combine. It wasn’t until his Private Workout in April long after the Illinois Pro Day] He gave a hamstring as the reason. The same excuse was used at his pro day. [ Jacas did not submit to the Medical Exam at the Combine] He attended the Patriots 30 Visit with the Patriots the week of April 20th.”
“It was disclosed to teams on April 4 that he had a shoulder injury (labral tear) that would need to be addressed.”
“His left knee was never disclosed to teams.”
“‘The knee thing looks like something that happened after the combine/pro day circuit,’ the executive said. ‘The knee thing was unknown until June.’
“It’s unknown when it happened, but it’s understandable the Patriots — who traded up for Jacas — were obviously pissed about the situation. The player giving a team a three-year injury waiver is virtually unprecedented.”

QB STATS

Drake Maye misfired on his first two passes of 11-on-11s (both potential miscommunications with A.J. Brown), then completed 10 of his final 12, plus another deep ball to Kayshon Boutte that was blown dead. One of the incompletions during that stretch was batted at the line. – Zack Cox
Looked like they had to pull Christian Barmore off the field. He was getting into it with some offensive linemen – Mark Daniels
I thought Khalil Jacobs and Karon Prunty had nice days today. Prunty was all over his receivers and Jacobs moves visibly well – Matt Cabral
Andy Borregales went 5/6 on kicks between 30-50 yards. The miss was well wide to the left from 44 yards but came on a bad snap. – Alex Barth
Looked like Eli Raridon settled between zones over the middle and Tommy DeVito hit him with two defenders. Heads up play from the rookie – Taylor Kyles
James Hudson got some reps at right tackle with the starters today – Mark Daniels
Hudson also looked good in 1 on 1s – Greg Bedard
Kevin Byard had a rough day getting beat deep by Boutte and Henry
Milton Williams was a bit slow to get up after being taken down by a Will Campbell run block. But he waved off the sideline and stayed in. – Zack Cox
