I do not like that at all, we could lose our top two UFAs to the last two AFC Champions.

Losing Edelman isn't optimal, no doubt, but I don't see him replicating his success in Baltimore.

I do not see it either. Losing Talib and Edelman would not be an issue if they signed with the Jags or Bucs, the problem is losing them to the best teams in our conference, we weaken and they strengthen it is a double whammy.

Pats hosting OG Shelley Smith.

I like Shelley Smith, he could compete with Cannon for the RG position, which would allow us to either move Connolly to OC or release him. Right now, it probably makes sense to retain Connolly and use him at OC.

Denver was going to sign one of the top corners. I am not sure that signing Talib was better for them (more damaging for us) than them signing one of the others.

I suppose that we would/should have felt the same way no matter which top defensive players Denver signed. Talib is not special in any way. Personally, I think that we would be in the same situation if they re-signed DRC and WAS signed Talib.

I feel like they do the 'Chris Clemons type deal' every year. With similar results. Which is fine, but we haven't found another pass rushing DE that offense has to account for.

As I have said for months, there is no reason to cut Connolly. He can start at two positions, or he can be the Game Day backup at three positions. Having Connolly gives us lots of positional flexibility.

Not sure I want a dude who punches out his own team mates in our locker room.

I think you're quoting another Incarcerated Bob wannabe.

I don't know that I'd go quite that far, but he does seem a bit sketchy.

Slow day two. Lots still out there, though it might be slim pickins for top line secondary. Hopefully, Lombardi is helping them investigate up and comers flying under the radar.

I am not sure, I can tell you I would not want to see Talib past age 32 with those hips and Denver has him under contract until he is 35 years old. I do not fault the Patriots for not making the move, I just think it sucks that we lost him to Denver and not a team that was in the basement.

Right or wrong, to date the Pats have made it pretty clear that they don't see Cannon as a G (I assume that it's something he isn't showing in practice, because he seems like a good fit at RG to me too). If Shelley Smith signs, then I'll be pretty happy. That indirectly pushes Wendell out the door, and if they make a play for a C it may push Connolly out the door too.

34" VJ for Smith coming out of Colorado St. in 2010. Sign the beast!

The broncos just hilariously overpaid for Ware.

The broncos just hilariously overpaid for Ware.

Ware was looking for $10M/year, and Jason La Canfora predicted that Denver would give it to him. $20M guaranteed. Denver has guaranteed $60M to Aqib Talib ($26M), DeMarcus Ware ($20M) and TJ Ward ($14M).

Ouch.

just saw that, wonder where their getting all this money from. I know they just let Champ go, but they are spending some money.

Are they basically conceding Demaryius and Julius next year? How in the world will they resign them?

They don't have money to spend any more. Even if some of those contracts are backloaded, they're probably getting tight.

So is this what you call "mortgaging the future"? Holy crap.

I think Elway is remembering his glory days...cheat the salary cap!
