I think it was more about Sanchez. Ed used to wear a Sanchez jersey and Jets fans gave him a lot of crap for it. He was tired of getting harassed in the stadium. So the "classy" Jets fans drove their mascot into retirement.

They were talking about Fireman Ed on one of the national shows and how they invited him on a few years ago and he wanted to get paid. They told him they were broadcasting live from a restaurant and would feed him and he said that wouldn't be enough.

What? You're a fan with a stick and now you're so self-important that you can't go on a show without getting paid? What a tool. If this was a Pats fan called Mike the MinuteMan or whatever I'd say the same thing.

Have a bit of sympathy for the guy, he was raised as a Dolphin fan then forced to cheer for the Jets when he was still a boy.
