Looking ahead to cutdowns and waiver (EDIT: First names announced)

That’s great, I doubt I’d even be accepted there if I had the same grades I did in 1978. I was a Chem. E., roomed with a guy on the team freshman year so got to watch Buben play his senior year and meet him a few times. The only way they could block him that year was triple teaming and diving at his knees constantly. Funny to think he could only make it one year in the NFL but he did play three years in the USFL.

I recall you were also an engineer, don’t remember what kind, but made it to the VP level in the engineering business. Must feel good to see your granddaughter embrace the profession.
I was BSEE 1966. No friggin way I could get accepted there today with my 1962 application. I was a slacker my 1st 2 years. would have flunked out these days.
G.R did the avionics for the rocket club. Launched in Texas. Both her grandfathers were Tufts EEs. Dad MIT EE. She HATES Mahomes for some reason. Her big sister is MS Bioinformatics @ UCSD. All family are Pats fans of course.

Obviously, we have more immediate needs, but I’d definitely be interested in DT Adin Huntington if the Browns cut him. Pure pass rusher.

Well done Pissah.

New England’s waiver position is significant. Let’s hope they can land a couple of quality players via the claim process. Should be an interesting week
I am guessing a couple guys like Bourne and Tavai will “make” the roster on day 1 but will then be moved to IR on day 2 to make room for guys they claim on waivers. Teams still get to send a couple guys directly to IR-DTR without needing to do the “one day on the roster” song and dance, but there will probably be more than 2 players that they want to send to IR-DTR.

They might put Bourne on the 53 to attempt a trade, and then use the IR DTR if nobody bites on the trade.

You are bidding for players on the Practice Squad.
Frequently players go to the team they've practiced with - but not always. And teams generally bring back players they are familiar with.
There are always a few PS players who get a decent salary due to competition.
But you make an offer - you don't put in a claim. It all counts toward the cap.

With the last CBA, Player squad salaries are a set amount. The 2 vets who have more than 3 vested years get a higher weekly check while those without get $13K before taxes.

It's 4 now (it was 2 in 2020 and 2021), and they actually get to negotiate a salary between $17,500 and $22,000 a week.

which vets?
I think I've changed my tune on Dugger and Jennings.. I'm leaning towards both making the final roster. The way Vrabel spoke of Dugger post game feels like he and the coaching staff have used the pecking order demotion to help motivate him.. Dugger himself told Andrew Callahan he missed all OTAs and was playing catch up with the play calling. On Jennings he serves a purpose here and adds to depth up front.

Usually the early releases are done, not on the PS.
We have enough at TE at least for this season to compete with Henry. On the record triumph says 2-2.. I think we can start 4-0.. September is a month where teams can catch teams early while rosters are still adjusting from pre season. The coaching I'm just so convinced will help lead to alot of wins.. look for Drake to be effective and efficient he doesn't need to play hero ball. Looking for the D to create havoc up front and lock down on the back end. Week 1.. let jeanty know he's not getting anything on the ground today, put gonzo on Bowers. Davis on Myers. We owe LV a L anyway.

I agree but Maye has to look a lot better than he did in Preseason games 1 and 2.

Agreed but no game planning, not showing anything, vanilla.. pre season pretty much is about staying healthy really.. I'd rather Drake be meh.. in pre-season.. I have a buddy who's been a season ticket holder since 2000.. before the social media coverage ect years ago.. he'd tell me how bad Brady looked in camp, or camp practices early on. Of course we all know what the goat did at game time.. saying this because.. the game planning is for real now. Drake will be locked in and focused.

Yes. We pick fourth. I fully expect two guys can be found on the waiver wire better than Caedan Wallace and Layden Robinson.

Why is that? Because Eliot Wolf phucking sucks.

********. He looked skinny but threw an amazing ball. Everyone saw it from day one.

And everyone knew he was a winner in college. Basically, no one to this day realizes how amazing that Sugar Bowl win over a STACKED Alabama team was on 1 JAN2000.

So this time 25 years ago BB did the most peculiar, amazing thing. Total brilliance: He carried FOUR QBs on the 53 roster. He explained it that Brady was going to be claimed on the waiver wire.

Just like we’re going to do with a couple of offensive linemen.

Maye was staring down receivers, not looking to his left, and not progressing through his reads. Maye's footwork was worse than last year. None of those issues have anything to do with playing vanilla.
