DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION 2026 NFL Draft: Day 1

9 OLs went round 1, over a 20 pick range:

9. Cleveland. Spencer Fano, Utah.
10. NY Giants. Francis Mauigoa, Miami.
12. Miami. Kadyn Proctor, Alabama.
14. Baltimore. Olaivavega Ioane, Penn St.
17. Detroit. Blake Miller, Clemson.
19. Carolina. Monroe Freeling, Georgia.
21. Pittsburgh. Max Iheanachor, Arizona St.
26. Houston. Keylan Rutledge, Georgia Tech.
28. New England. Caleb Lomu, Utah.

I would love to come out of rd 2 and 3 with a viable Edge and LB.
TE can wait.
DT can wait.
Safety is a wildcard.
Couple of highly rated OGs in Preg and Bisontis still on the board. Widcards.
If Bisontis, Pregnon or Rutledge fall to 63 the Patriots have a decision to make. I feel it's more likely they will move up for an EDGE in round 2 and just take whoever falls in round 3.

Protecting Maye is a priority. Period. If you can't do that, who gives a **** about pass rush.
I thought people are viewing this as a red shirt year. The only thing he’s gonna protect is water bottles.
Anyway, I’m done ranting about the pick. Hopefully he’s able to improve on whatever he needs to be a stellar player for us.

Yes, I don't want an OG that early, just saying their value increases the further thee fall.
I want an Edge and LB in the next 2 rds. Even if we have to move up for both.

If it makes you feel better, Jets fans are not happy about those picks
Nor should they be. They haven’t addressed the real problems of not having a legit starting NFL QB, and of being the Jets. They’re just shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic now,

Love the Lomu pick. Never imagined he'd be within our reach. He's a better pass blocker than Campbell but less effective in the running game. Potential impact starter at LT and solid depth piece at the worst. There is a league wide shortage of LT's so to have depth there is a good thing. He'll compete with Campbell and the rest of the Oline. Its not a sexy pick to some but games are won in the trenches. Worst case he takes a year to develop as a swing tackle before eventually taking over LT and forcing WC to move to RT or OG.

I don't like that Eliot Wolf felt the need to declare that Campbell will be our LT. Nothing wrong with competition Eliot. Let them compete. Don't play favorites. Our coaching staff will determine who plays where based on whats best for the team. Personally, I think Wolf is a jag who's stealing a paycheck. He's not as much of a Jack@$$ as DaBruinz but equally dweeby.

I wonder if the aj trade is happening what the compensation will be. I hope it's not a 1st but if it is how would that trade affect what the pats did today? Maybe it affecting the decision

I read about this just now because I didn't understand why the much better regarded and higher drafted Spencer Fano was moved to the right side. Apparently it was because Caleb wasn't considered as versatile as Spencer, and couldn't play RT well. So the team was better off with Caleb at LT and Spencer at RT.
Where did you read this? Do you have a link?

Or, for that matter, of being owned by Woody Johnson.

People really sleeping on Elijah Ponder making a jump in year 2

Congrats on being the first idiot to say this will be the jets year this time around. You are the first to be wrong.
Congrats on showing everyone you're a drunkard who can't actually read what was said.

Better not be a 1st.

A 2nd is plenty.
