DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION 2026 NFL Draft: Day 1

Bills trade down again they’re collecting picks.

I would have taken EDGE for sure but I don’t hate the Lomu pick at all. My only question is how he will be used this year and how Campbell fits into the picture.
I’m sure the plan for now is for him to be the swing tackle with the goal of him being RT next year, but ultimately everyone’s performance will dictate it. If Campbell’s struggles in the postseason weren’t actually due to his knee and he struggles at LT this year, maybe they do make him LG long term and Lomu becomes LT. But I’m sure that’s not what their plan A is.

Sucks we're go to see Sadiq and Cooper for a while.
Sadiq is gonna be a bust.

I think I'm going to go to sleep, set my alarm for 11:00, watch the Patriots trade out, then go back to sleep. Affairs and the Patriots trading out of the first round, I'm having flashbacks to the Belichick days.
Hope you really didn't do this, lol.

Lomu is very athletic. One of the best ranked pass protectors in this draft. 82.1 PFF Pass protector rating, 0 sacks allowed, and only 8 pressures in 823 offensive snaps. His run blocking needs improvement though.

The real question is how do we get Lomu, Campbell, and Vera-Tucker on the field at the same time?

I was thinking more about Campbell replacing Onwenu who is massively overpaid and has endless weight issues and is in the last year of his deal.

25m cap hit this year.

Some money is going to have to give if the Gonzalez contract gets done.
Many LTs can't play RT and vice versa, let alone LT moving to RG.

H
Seems like a panic pick with the trade up. They came into it determined to take a tackle. I don’t know anything about the guy but he seems a bit undersized
He's 6'6 and 313 lbs. HOW is that undersized?

My only concern is can he play on the right side. Thought I read Spencer moved to RT to accommodate lomu. But im OK with the pick. Good pass protector. Protect the franchise. He'll get stronger

Jets with new TE and new WR. Going to be tough with Geno as QB though.
Congrats on being the first idiot to say this will be the jets year this time around. You are the first to be wrong.

Someone's playing guard. Realistically I could see a scenario where Lomu is a rotational player for this year before he becomes a full time starter.

I'm just basing it on the modern NFL, this isn't 5-10 years ago teams don't trade up and give up assets to take a swing tackle in the first round.

He's going to play and start somewhere especially by mid season, he might start off as a backup.

You don't get 1st round tackles sitting on the bench all season in 2026.
