The 2nd will be Zay Flowers. You want to trade Zay Flowers and Davante Parker for Jeudy? Seems like the wrong decision to me. Are you sure you thinking straight?

One of the things that I've noodled on was this out of the box (and perhaps a REALLY dumb one) But it makes some sense based one the "cup theory".Great post. I have read about the Payton approach of two very strong guards and a center to keep Brees clean. Makes a lot of sense with Mac. We have Andrews, Strange and Onwenu, and if Strange makes Y2 jump, I think the weak link is Andrews. I still would love a strong LT at #14. Then an Andrews replacement or guard in R4. R1 and R4. WR and CB otherwise, although we could sign Murphy-Bunting with our cap space and have a lot more flexibility on draft day.

These days your edge rushers are 4.5 40 guys who are very agile in the 230-250 range. So why not move Strange, who has insane athleticism, out to the edge and draft a big brute of a OT on day 2 to play LG and take on the inside bull rushers, that Strange had some problems with. Then you'd start with an OL of Strange, rookie, Andrews, Owenu, and Brown. OR maybe Reiff or Anderson can make the move inside. We DO have a bunch of big tough guys who could BE that big LG.
The key is, can they deal with the quickness of being inside, because OT's usually KNOW who they will block when they line up. The edge guy is the edge guy. However on the inside with LB's and SS's darting here and there it can get confusing for some players. IIRC there was a a former OT who they tried to move to G but he couldn't deal with it. It's not easy. BTW - one of the areas Strange shined last year was his ability to deal with all moving pieces. But when he failed it was when he couldn't anchor a big bull rusher.
100%, and my fault on how I phrased that, Ken. My intent was to tell the poster I was quoting to watch Jeudy play to substantiate the argument in support of his value. My comment referencing a washed split end was in reference to Hopkins and every other aging jump ball x they have tried to sign since Sanu. The guy who HAS watched him play a lot is our own BCG and he raves about him and would take him over any of top first round WR guys (I think) He's posted that he might even give up the first. I wouldn't give up the first myself.
BTW we'd have to drop back deep in the 20's to get a 2nd round back. Right now our biggest need is a starting LT or CB at 14 we MIGHT have a guy worthy of the pick at LT, but we'd DEFINITELY have a shot at one of the top 3 CB's
I agree, but they do have a significant amount of draft capital to recover and that roster is severely compromised by that ridiculous Wilson contract. It is in the best interest of the team to liquidate their assets to recover what they can and resume drafting highly.BTW- all this is interesting conjecture, but I don't think Denver is going to move any of their young WR's, at least not until they get to see them in Peyton's offense. Hackett made Patricia look good on the offensive side of the ball.
Matt Light and Cannon's first season, basically.Strange was never on the edge, even in college. Onwenu is the same, always a right guard at Michigan and ended up at right guard with the Pats. Remember the calls on PatsFans for Onwenu to RT? Some guys are tackles and some guys are guards. Strange and Onwenu are guards. I cannot tell you why, but that is where they are comfortable and lots of college and professional coaches agree that is where they belong. Not sure why people on PatsFans want Onwenu at RT and Strange at LT when all the evidence is against these moves .
Right. It comes down to whether they’d rather keep Jeudy and give him a big extension in 2 years, or trade him while he’s still got high value for probably a 2nd, then trade back with that 2nd to get multiple 3rds and overall just get more picks to restock their team with young affordable players.I agree, but they do have a significant amount of draft capital to recover and that roster is severely compromised by that ridiculous Wilson contract. Jeudy is not that. Some posters are acting like he's Megatron or Jerry friggin' Rice. He ain't.I'm getting weary of this "savior wide receiver" mentality that's all the rage these days.
I heard the jack Jones situation was a bit overblown as it was a miscommunication between his camp and the team.. reportedly the training staff let BB know he was missing sessions... Jones agent said that wasn't the case.. so who knows I doubt he went at BB the guys oozes swagger but he's smart enough to know I'd imagine... we need him at corner with his mentality and attitude..Uche and a late round coin could be the move too if they don’t want to pay him.
I could also see a a third and Bourne.
Sounds good, But Bourne is on a very cheap deal.. he's still useful in this offense.. he's a guy we should be trying to keep..A 2nd and Bourne. If they got Jeudy then there's not much need for Bourne and we could get rid of his contract.
Go into next season with:
WR 1. - Jeudy - can play inside or outside. Good route runner with good speed/athleticism
WR 2. - Ju Ju - slot receiver. Play Myers role with better ability to run after catch
WR 3/4. - Thornton - speed receiver. Hopefully can make a lot of progress this year
WR 3/4. - Parker - outside receiver, Hopefully stays healthy
That would be the best WR core we've had in about 6 years or so.
You’re right, he’s not even close to them, but those types would never even be on the market. I think Jeudy would be a good addition to an offence that needs an upgrade at the WR position, but I’m not giving up a #1 for him.Jeudy is not that. I agree that as it stands now we need Bourne, but if they did trade for Jeudy then you don’t need him. He’s got a cap hit of close to $7m and would barely see the field. He’d basically be about the 6th or 7th receiving option (Jeudy, Ju Ju, Gieseki, Thornton, Henry, Parker)Sounds good, But Bourne is on a very cheap deal.. he's still useful in this offense.. he's a guy we should be trying to keep..
I believe the only way we obtain a WR that can make plays on the outside is by trade or drafting.. I'm all for drafting.. as fans we are leary because of the misses.. however Thornton projects to be a starter.. his speed is elite and he will be more consistent under BOB. I like the guys we have But if juedy can obtained for a 2nd it's a no Brainer. He's 23 years old.. fast, great hands can run every route.. has a relationship with mac.. his potential is far from being reached. You’re right, he’s not even close to them, but those types would never even be on the market. I think Jeudy would be a good addition to an offence that needs an upgrade at the WR position, but I’m not giving up a #1 for him.
I see what you're saying.. I like that line up.. the thing is will Parker stay healthy for a 16 game season? If we kept Bourne around he would be able to provide us insurance with a WR that can make plays on the perimeter and down the boundaries..I agree that as it stands now we need Bourne, but if they did trade for Jeudy then you don’t need him. Parker plays the X WR spot. Not sure about Jeudy but I think he likely plays more of the Z spot. Either way I’d be fine if it’s Parker or Bourne that goes as their targets will drop if Jeudy were here.I updated yours. Jeudy makes Parker redundant. Bourne is also more dynamic, younger and cheaper.
