I've seen Wentz play a few times and am completely baffled as to why he the leading MVP candidate. Quite simply, he has had a ton of luck (PFF charts these stats) and been extremely fortunate not to have a lot more INTs. The Eagles are a run first team who open up the game for Wentz, who struggles if the box isn't stacked.

He just isn't very good. I'd be surprised if Wentz ends up being an NFL star long-term. His low completion percentage and high bad decision rate are concerning.

The only thing he has going for him is he makes some impressive Sports Center highlight plays. I would not rank him as a top 10 QB right now.

Russell Wilson is way more deserving than Wentz

I agree definitely Wilson over Wentz. I also think Brees is more deserving, despite a lot less TD passes. I'll take the (way, way) more accurate QB. I mean, out of every ten passes, Brees completes 7 and Wentz 6! You don't think that in itself puts them in different classes? Wentz's red zone success has been the huge outlier, and a success rate that high is almost always proven to be a lucky sample size in the long-run.

I think Wentz (this season) is about equally as valuable as Alex Smith, so I'd rank them tied for fourth (behind Brady, Wilson, and Brees.) Wentz and Smith are about as different as you can get, but their overall value right now is pretty similar.

Also, let's give Aaron Rodgers some damn credit. Brady REALLY has no equal now. With Rodgers, Brady had a guy in his class, even though I think Brady has the edge. Without Rodgers there is such an enormous gap, we are talking about Carson Wentz and Alex Smith....lol . No offense to Brees, who I think is one class below Brady/Rodgers, whereas Wentz/Smith are at least two classes below.

It should be Brady but its not going to be some HORRIBLE ATROCITY if Wentz gets it.

I seems to be among a few who don't like this award. The winner is sure bet to lose the super bowl. Matt Ryan was so close to breaking that hex.

MVP usually comes down to this.

"Best player, on the best team"

0r

"Skilled position player on a contender team that has done something historic"

Brady's going to have to really pad the hell out of his stats, probably win out, and and hope Wentz has a loss somewhere where he didn't have such a good game. That said if Brady can somehow pass Wentz in TD's and beat him in every statistic, he should have a conving enough argument.

MVP is so circumstanctial though that I don't care. Manning got two that in my estimation were worthless and hardly even count in his favor (08 and 09)

As long as we raise the Lombardi in February, who cares who gets any awards.

Let roger “I bleed green and white and not just because I have the clap” goddell suffer yet again as he displays his pasty fake smile and hands the trophy to kraft only to run from the stadium like a scaled dog,

To me, the MVP Award is about 1/1000th as important as a championship, but nonetheless I would like to see Tom get his due. He has been passed over despite being a very worthy candidate multiple times in the past. He was 2nd in voting in 2015 and 2nd in 2016 (and was the MVP as voted by coaches, not the AP.)

You have this d1ckweed forehead, his biggest rival, who was an automatic MVP and First-Team All-Pro every time he had a decent year. The GOAT should have at least three. Once he gets three, I'll stop following the race. Also, it would be absolutely historic for a 40 year old QB to win the MVP. In fact, I would probably sum up his greatness and longevity (outside of postseason stuff) by the simple amazing fact that he won the NFL MVP at age 40! I am hoping that voters get their **** together and realize the historic significance of what Tom is doing this year, rather than hand it to a guy with a 59% completion percentage.

Regarding Wentz, his year is similar to Ryan Fitzpatrick in 2015. He has absurdly high (lucky) red zone success. Sure, he has been good and better than Fitzpatrick, but his overall play is highly inflated by the red zone rate.

Wentz will get it IMO

They will want someone new or different to get it...in his 2nd year. Will be better for the NFL and their greed if he gets it rather than Brady

I think the opposite actually. Wentz will be seen as "paying his dues". The voters know that Brady is near the end, they know that 40 year old QB's aren't supposed to be playing like this, they know what a disaster this season would be for the Pats without him, and I bet they will want to salute the career of the GOAT - and it's pretty much a large majority consensus now that's exactly what he is - and do it while they are able.

I think Brady wins this award by a mile.

Assuming of course "The Cliff (TM)" doesn't all of a sudden appear for him, an unexpected PED bust, or something else terrible happens that I won't mention so I don't jinx anything.

Eff the MVP award. The fact that he has 4 super bowl MVPs shows how bias this award is. Realistically, he should have won it in 11,12,14,15,16 or at least 2 or 3 of those years.

Voters looked for every reason to give it to Manning in his career, Brees was better in 2009 but IND had the slightly superior team record. 2003 was a coin toss, and so was 2008. In 3 of his 5 wins, Manning didn't even have what I would consider his best seasons.

On the flip side, one could easily have justified Brady as MVP in each of 2015-2017. 2011 was another MVP caliber year but Rodgers and Brees were a little better in the RS. If Manning wasn't part of the royal family and the Pats weren't viewed as the Evil Empire, we could be looking as many as 4-5 MVPs by this season's end for Brady and only 2 or 3 for Manning.

I'm sure we'll take the SB MVPs though. 4 and counting!

He is the MVP, but he won't win the award. Far too many haters.

Patriots and BB have haters but I actually don't think Brady has many haters at all, at least not people who matter.
