No Gilmore, No Rowe at Practice (Weds) [wk 7 vs Atl injury reports & updates]

I'm puzzled by that response. I am not critical of anyone for appreciating Bademosi (I posted "all props to Bademosi" and greatly appreciate what he did last night). I'd be ecstatic if Bademosi can light up practice and force his way into the starting lineup. That almost certainly would mean we will have improved as well as have a new CB who looks to have a bright future. And I am extremely happy about the win (you'll see my postings that I thought our chances to win were tangible and our D was/would be looking up).
But I am critical of those taking one game and extrapolating it into Bademosi should be Gillmore's replacement. That's game day thread style hysterics that should be called out. Gilmore is a 5 year(??) starter with pretty decent, or better, credentials. Bademosi is a rookie with barely more experience than 7 days. That's not unappreciative of Bademosi or peeing in anyone's fruitcup -- as it were -- it's peeing on the inability of posters to see beyond one game/ability to overlook some pretty solid facts.

TWO games - - he was impressive last week also against NYJ.

But, yes, no decisions should be made based on two games, or the previous ones for Gilmore. Starting in a game should be predicated upon who has the best week of practice and preparation. If BB sees Gilmore as the most ready, then it should be Gilmore. If otherwise, it should be otherwise. Simple as that. And that's how he operates.

I understand what you are saying, but both of them are rookies in this system and both are nfl veterans. Gilmore was the tenth overall pick so he is allowed every opportunity to succeed unlike an UDFA. Bademosi has played two good games, Gilmore has played 5 and a few of those were bad. Its not like people are saying he's replacing Butler who has been here for years. It only helps us out if both these two are solid contributors this season. People are excited that our secondary is better and most of them want to see if he can continue playing this well. I don't see anyone wanting to get rid of Gilmore. There's no reason to get upset about this because it's a win win either way. It says a lot that we are playing bademosi and not someone else on the roster or promoting from the PS.

I'm not upset, no worries. And I don't have any real disagreement with any of your post except "I don't see anyone wanting to get rid of Gilmore". Just within this thread, and several others for weeks, is a spiraling out of control intense negativity toward Gilmore. Then we see, within this thread, suggestion of Bademosi should replace Gilmore (and again this isn't the only thread with similar type exaggeration)? People can and maybe even should be called out for being hysterical.

The whole Defense played well last night, I assume Bademosi played well too. Most important the Patriots won. No need to drag Gilmore through the mud especially with 'worst trade ever' 'replace him with ____'.

We're on to the Chargers...

You are right it doesn't do any good to throw people under the bus. Those people wanting to cut Gilmore that'll kill us with his cap hit are the irrational types that speak with their heart. Most are game thread day trolls so don't pay attention to them. They have had a bad week at work.

With that. What did our TE Allen do this game?

Allen???
Can't say I recall seeing much of Allen . When the snap count by player and formation comes out it will be interesting to see where is count is at. Since he didn't make the passing stat sheet but we had some solid production on the ground, I'd say his contribution would have to be in the run blocking. If not then he was a non factor...

You missed one helluva game in Tampa Bay.

Film Review: How Stephon Gilmore got back on track vs Buccaneers

But don't bother yourself with any facts, when just arbitrarily making your statements is more fun for you. Caution: The link is packed with video evidence and objective analysis.

lol did you even read that because it doesn't say what you think it does. (Oh and they cute pff as their source lol) Go read chathams film review and you will learn something.

Just like a slumping Carolina magically had their best game of the season vs the Patriots D, I have a feeling Atlanta will do the same come Sunday night.

That defense is going to get pulverized. All the Falcons want to do is pass and they will be able to do it at will Sunday, hopefully the offense can keep up.

Yeah only hope NE has of winning is Brady going off. He's certainly capable, yet a SB team shouldn't require a 40 year old to be superman every single game. It catches up to you eventually.

Far healthier teams on defense, they have better defenses which helped them beat Atlanta. Unless we win 56-52, we have no chance against that offense with a special team player as CB 2 and our 4th CB as CB 3. Also we don’t get the pressure Buffalo and Miami get on QBs. So Ryan will have plenty of time. Sets up for a very bad game for our D. Better front 7s and healthier DBs helped them beat Atlanta.

Of course Atlanta gets Sanu back and the Pats go into Sunday night with one of the worst corner troikas in the nfl...

Neither the Jets nor Bucs are playoff teams.I still can't fathom how people are predicting a 14 point Patriots win. This D will ensure ( For time being) that close games are the norm.

I have 0 confidence going into this game..I mean really none...so it can only get better from here.

Not having any CBs hurts against ATL

the bills have an overrated defense/team.

pats defense is really bad though. if the ****tiest qb's like mccown have career games, what is ryan going to do tonight?

Either the D is getting better or Atlanta is collapsing. Nonetheless, I was dead wrong about last night.
I don't think ATL is playing well right now.

With that said the D is absolutely playing better.

First time in a game this year there were zero busted coverages in the secondary

From a mental aspect, if there is one thing that sets Patriots apart from rest of the league, it is that they are consistent. I am not talking about performance on defense or offense but we will our way to playoffs every year and that is hard to do in this league.
Even with terrible defenses we have made playoffs before. That gives me hope this season.
Having said that, we need to work better on offense as well with play calling and getting everyone involved etc. How much our defense can improve will dictate how deep we go into playoffs. I just hope we don't suffer any more injuries.
I trust BB to get this team to play the way he wants as the season progresses.

From a Falcons' perspective, historically, team coming off a SB loss hasn't really played well the following season (unless they are the Patriots ofcourse). They beat a good Packers team at home but have struggled to find rhythm and execute consistently. They didn't fall off a cliff like the Panthers did in 2016 but are starting to fade. They may still make playoffs but they don't scare me at the moment even with our defense being bad.

I do not understand or can't get into the Xs and Os/matchups like most people on this forum do. But I have a good feeling about this game. We will not be perfect but will find a way to win. End of the day it's not about shutting out the opponents but scoring more than them. I believe we will get it done.

Falcons still didn't get over SB loss. Terrific all around performance by Pats.

Hopefully they can follow it up against a team that's playing very well in the chargers.

slash83 also called the Buffalol Bills "the most complete team in the AFC East" a couple of weeks back.

So it starts. Defense plays well but it must be because the team you said they had no chance of holding under 50 sucks.

Yup. Those were just from this thread.

Can't wait to get Gilmore back against the chargers. I expect our secondary to continue to make strides and be one of the best in the league.

The D looks better. Im just wondering wtf happened to Atlanta.
