What needs to change?

A lot of issues on D. Talent in the front 7 is unfortunately not great. Hightower and Flowers are very good. Wise has promise. Not much outside of them. We don't generate much pressure from the front 4 and that leaves the secondary covering longer.

The communication issues in the secondary need to be corrected NOW. Inexcusable that these issues continue. Coaches gotta get these guys prepared.

Luckily our division sucks but we are in for a tough stretch. Needs to get fixed fast.
You that sure Buffalo sucks? They just beat the Broncos and the Falcons back to back and they're giving up 13 points a game. They're one 9-3 loss to Carolina away from being undefeated.

Idk how they're doing it but it's impressive what they did to atlanta. They probably glad they don't have Gilmore anymore not to say he can't turn this around.

Gilmore is a top corner. From your perspective, he needs moire time to absorb Patricia's system. This is true for most corners in their first year in New England.
Has Gilmore been bad enough to make this defense the worst in the league, by far?

What makes our D so difficult to acclimate to?
Better defensive teams seem to corral the talent they sign.

I did not think we were asking Mr. Gilmore to call out the defense and wear a green dot. His job is to mainly cover. Sometimes in a zone or sometimes in man-to-man.
Sometimes he may get safety help. Other times he is on an island.
How long does it take to get to "not a liability" level in our defense?

Aqib Talib seemed to pick it up fairly quickly. Then again, we probably weren't playing as much zone in an attempt to try and contain the QB, so maybe Talib didn't have as many responsibilities?

The rest of us don't decide how good corners are by four games of play.
I don't think the problem is Gilmore's lack of talent, but he is clearly the party responsible for the communication issues, which is huge. After all, what else changed? There's no other new personnel in the secondary. They're not going to call him out by name, but do you think they'd be having these same communication issues if say, Logan Ryan had stayed? (not that I'm complaining about the move)

Combine that with his very costly penalties thus far and it isn't hard to figure out why the handsomely paid outsider is getting all of the negative attention.

Buffalo only sucked last week when people wanted to prove that Denver was overrated. Now, it will be about the Julio Jones injury.

For the record, I don't think any of us should be surprised that there's a contender in the division. I think the fact that it's Buffalo rather than Miami may be somewhat surprising, though.

I wanna know how they're doing it. Can you say their d line's better than ours? How about the secondary. Are they mostly playing man coverage? I couldn't tell you a name right now in that secondary.

Talib is simply much better. To think we let this guy walk for only 10 million per year.

1. AQIB TALIB, DENVER BRONCOS, 90.8 OVERALL GRADE
Aqib Talib has long possessed one of the most impressive skill-sets in the league among cornerbacks, flashing the ability to shut down any receiver, but 2016 has been a career year for him, as it’s the first season he has done it consistently week-to-week, with no real lapses to date. Talib has allowed just 9.3 yards per reception, 53.7 percent of the passes thrown his way to be caught, and opposing QBs have a passer rating of just 37.0 when throwing into his coverage. That’s 2.6 points lower than if those quarterbacks just threw the ball out of bounds every snap, thanks to three interceptions and no touchdowns surrendered this year. Aqib Talib has been the league’s best corner this season.

Their d line is definitely better. The only names I know in the secondary are their first round pick at CB and Micah Hyde at safety.

Im not hinting Patricia should be gassed. Maybe BB taking over the D for a few games may not be the worst thing. Just to change it up. We all remember how they respondrd in SB 49 when BB went over and talked to them.

What are your thoughts on how our d line has played thus far? Spefically our tackles.

Or Talib is just a much better corner?

Duck Tape & Gorilla Glue couldn't help mend this Defense.

He's better at man coverage, but there's obviously something that made BB feel comfy enough to call Gilmore's agent the morning of the first day of free agency and offer a deal that was easily negotiated and that Gilmore couldn't refuse.

Hopefully, it was more than just trying to stick it to Butler's camp (kidding).

Which is just one reason why I'm not making any assumptions about beating teams like Denver, Pittsburgh, etc.

I will feel better about those games if our defense starts to show improvement. Big improvements. I don't think pittsburgh's all that great. Just look at who they have played.

I'm usually not personal in my comments. Are you older than 15?

His link is from last year, and Gilmore isn't a rookie.

So....

I think the AFC north might be the worse division in football this season. I thought it would be our division and thus far it hasn't been the case.
