He is a kid give him a full off season with playing and eating full time, he will be 280 no problem. He is absolutely going to play DE.

280 is still too small.

Your still about 20+ pounds off the traditional 3-4 DE in BB's system. Jones has prototypical 3-4 OLB size. He would need to get up to 290+ just to be in the conversation. He could never anchor effectively at 280.

BTW, the pre-draft rumors that the Pats were interested in Jones were actually true.

Has Mayock NOT liked a pick tonight?

Giants waste a pick on Maroney v2, sets up me anxious for tomorrow.

The pats have no ammo to trade up with, so as much as we hope, odds are Reyes and Ja. Jenkins will be off the board by 48.

dont be surprised when they are available because look at the players that fell in the 1st round...

This is what Jones will be playing:

It will be a great pick if he plays 500-600 snaps effectively as a DE in nickel and dime.
I don't expect him to play OLB in the base yet, or to need to.
We have Ninko, Cunningham, Scott,Hightower and Jones as of now, for 34 OLB and sub DE. Thats a lot of depth, and that means learning a new position and developing immediately is not that important. Doing what comes natural from the DE spot in the sub will be plenty.

Just knocks another players down closer to 48, and we have potential to move up using picks from the next few drafts.

I don't see any reason to trade up, lots of talent left. I'll put money on Fleener at 33 to Colts.

BB building the LB corps that made him famous with the 80's Giants.

No more effing around with cut rate Ninkos and Guytons out there.
Why the Ninko hate. Shmess. Pretty harsh for a guy who was more productive last season than Clay Matthews, despite the fact he's asked to a lot more than just freelance.

BTW- While I would have picked Mercilus instead of Hightower, I trust that BB knows a bit more about talent than I do, so I can live with it. I suspect that Hightower will become a mix and match player who is used all over the place depending on Match ups. Jones will replace Anderson as a situational rusher for his first year and has a huge upside.

Actually the draft is going almost exactly the way I hoped. We got the DE and the versatile LB for the front 7, and hopefully will take care of the back end of the defense with the 2 picks we have tomorrow. And best of all, we can take the rest of the weekend off. 4 picks is just perfect, especially when "hopefully" they will be 4 picks who will contribute

We are gonna get someone of HUGE value tomorrow. Deep speed or a potential elite corner.

Some thoughts:

One team fell in love with Bruce Irvin, I loved him...in the late 2nd round, huge reach.

I've been dead wrong on Stephen Hill. I thought he'd easily be a 1st round pick.

The JESTS get a boom/bust player, hope bust. :D

I don't know but he got just about every one wrong.

Bro, on the pats' second trade up did you almost go nuts when the commish started off saying Donte' Hightower's name and it sounded like Doug Martin's?
