You'll Never Believe This: Revis Tampering More Extensive Than Revealed

One of the responses to Hill's tweet sums it up: "ESPN has completely 'missed' this news."

That was posted 8 hours ago. I checked ESPN's main football page and the Jets page. There are stories about the Revis fight and arrest, but no mention of the tampering story. As others have said, there's zero chance of that happen if NE was involved in a non-victim role. I guess ESPN couldn't get any anonymous sources to talk to them about the Jets.

Broncos were fined $1m and a 3rd rd pick for salary cap violations.

Manning and TJ Ward not so much.

Yea Colts should have been investigated for ball tampering.

What did the Ravens get away with?

Ravens were the ones who told the Colts about the Patriots footballs supposedly not meeting spec. The only way they'd know is if they tampered with them to find out..

The thing that matters is how this plays with the other 31 billionaires? Have they seen enough to understand Goodell is a loose cannon that could be aimed at any one of them at any time?

I think you mean how it plays out with the other 29 billionaires..
- Johnson doesn't count since he's the one accused of the tampering
- Kraft won't count because of the ongoing feud that has existed between the Pats and Jets for 20 years.
- Green Bay doesn't have a singular owner since they are publically owned. However, it does have a Head of the Board of Directors in Mark Murphy.

That being said, there's a good chance that Clark Hunt goes ballistic since his team was penalized very harshly by Goodell and, by all accounts, the tampering was negligible in comparison. There's a good chance that Jerry Jones, Dan Snyder, Jed York, Tom Benson and Stephen Ross will be upset since they have all been penalized harshly under Goodell.

For anything to happen to Goodell, they need at least 23 owners against Goodell.

Oh cmon. The league conducted a comprehensive investigation and found the Dolts and Ratbirds not guilty of any wrongdoing

Very disappointing because no one knew about the clandestine phone calls, most people thought it was just woodys Big mouth.

Mehta is clearly stating he knew of them and kept his mouth shut at the time, imho.. Now, he's using it to slam Johnson while, unwittingly, helping the Patriots.

Nice Sarcasm.. Though I don't remember then making that statement in Deflategate.. Unless you consider the Omission of any investigation into them their statement.

2011 Detroit Lions tampered with Jarrad Page(7th round pick) while he was a Chief. They had to forfeited a 2011 seventh-rounder plus AND swap with the Chiefs in the fifth round.

2008 49ers tampered with Lance Briggs(3rd round pick) while he was a Bear. They had to forfeit a 2008 fifth-rounder and swap picks with Bears in third round.

I think there are more, but I remember these clearly.

Precedent has been set...PAY UP!

Except, in both cases, it was a pick SWAP.

Goodell could very easily get out of this by saying that the pick swap will be the 4th rounder. Which the Patriots will lose because of the rider he put in from Deflategate that the Patriots would be forced to lose their highest 4th round pick.

:p

They should have been investigated.

What's incredibly interesting in this is that it happened at the same time as the wells investigation.

So the patriots were accused of playing with a few puffs of air out of a football and it led to a 5 million dollar investigation including multiple grilling interviews with people who may have been involved, confiscation of cell phones, the most severe penalties in league history and the greatest player in the history of the game being suspended because more likely than not he was generally aware of what someone else did.

The jets were accused of tampering with an opponents player who was under contract. Understand the severity if this. You are interfering with the teams ability to negotiate with its player by negotiating against them. You are treating the property of your competitor as a free agent.
This is 1000 times more damaging than a few puffs of air from a football.
It was also hidden and done secretively.
The punishment 100,000 fine. The investigation? Apparently there really wasn't one.

In goodells NFL the Patriots are watched over like a communist by Joseph McCarthy and the jets are watched over like a drug dealer by the cops he pays off.

Graves named VP of football administration, club services

Veteran football executive Rod Graves has been named senior vice president of football administration and club services, the National Football League announced today.

Graves brings more than 30 years of experience in multiple aspects of the business of football to his position, from scouting to player personnel to football administration.

In his new role within the Football Operations department, Graves will oversee all club and game-related initiatives related to the Competition Committee, general managers and head coaches. Graves is responsible for the strategic development of coaching, scouting, officiating, and front office personnel, international players and coaches, the Combine series, college relations and the player pipeline.

"I am very much looking forward to beginning this next chapter of my football career," Graves said. "It's exciting to have the opportunity to make a positive impact on our game in so many different ways."

A long-time Arizona Cardinals executive and general manager, Graves spent the past two seasons with the New York Jets as senior director of football administration.

"Rod brings vast football knowledge and club experience to Football Operations," said NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Troy Vincent. "Rod is a man of high integrity and his experience over the past 30 years is informed by extensive experience in many areas of our sport. We look forward to his insight as he contributes to developing our great game."

As Florio noted:

A couple of other circumstances make this one even more intriguing. First, in July of 2015, Rod Graves took a job at the league office after spending two years with the Jets. What kind of interrogation, if any, did he face regarding the Revis tampering case before or after getting a job at 345 Park Avenue?

The hypocrisy and bias of the league office has no bounds. Goodell, Vincent and the rest are pathological liars. It is an affront that these scam artists toss around the word 'integrity' so casually, and laughably ironic since they have absolutely none themselves. Add in the blatantly obvious coercion with their media business partners, and it is an insult to the intelligence of any football fan to be asked to believe anything that comes out of 345 Park Avenue.

This is an interesting point. Where do you think the "11 of the 12 balls were more than 2 p.s.i low" came from? During the Patriots/Ravens game, the game time temperature was in the 20s, not the 40s like the Colts game. The footballs in the Ravens games would have been 2 or more PSI low.

I believe those numbers came from the Ravens.

If you've ever been in an organization and had to elect a leader, there is a desire for strong consensus. That's why it's often said you have 80% support or you have 20%.

If 8 owners came out against Roger, it's not worth it for the others to try to ram him through. Any mistake Roger makes is on them. It's much better to try to find someone almost everybody can agree on.

So, replacing Roger may be a long shot, it's not as long as you might think.

How exactly does spending a combined 30 years working for the Cardinals and Jets propel someone to a job at NFL headquarters? Do last place finishes and missing the playoffs count as positives now?

Lest anyone forget - and I'm sure it's been mentioned here already - in the best "apples to apples" comparison, Jets kicker Jay Feely is caught altering PSI of his kicking balls to make them go further

He's given a slap on the wrist.

Same accusation - the only evidence presented actually exonerating Brady - and the loss of a 1st/4th and 1/4th season benching of the GOAT in an attempt to effectively "fix" a season and handicap a team "clogging" up the Super Bowl for other owners to the tune of "once every other year"

Goodell is VERY lucky that he's not currently equated with the Chicago Black Sox - but one day he will be

In any event, even though we know it would be a sham investigation, the simple fact that Goodell can compel any NFL employee to hand over their cellphones and chooses NOT do do so in light of this report is further evidence of just how inherently UNFAIR the NFL now is

The players are actually NOT compelled to turn over cellphones (hence the $50k fine of Jets QB Brett Favre for his refusal to turn over his phone in a possibly criminal sexual assault of an NFL employee - and of course Brady' 1/4th season for doing... nothing)

But all NFL employees are - which is what happened in FrameGate though of course there was no evidence found

Would love to have a TRUE 3rd party do a forensic audit of those phones for ANY wrongdoing in the case of Ambassador Woody Johnson!

I'd say that the Vikings and Panthers getting caught heating footballs on the sidelines (which would obviously affect their psi), after being explicitly told not to do it, is a pretty good apples-to-apples comparison to what the Patriots were falsely accused of doing.

And both those teams were punished harshly....with a stern warning not to do it again
