You guys do realize you'll have to kiss the gun jokes goodbye if this happens.

Are you saying that we should shoot down the idea of Burress joining the Patriots?

Re: Patriots to Work Out WR Plaxico Burress

Sign the beast.

I'm saying it could put a bullet hole in the organization.

Hey, he's not on the team yet. :D

Kicking tires for future needs.

Would you rather have Branch, Stallworth, or Plax? I personally think I might lean towards Plax. He has a defined roll and gives them something none of their other receivers does. Just one more bullet in Brady's gun.

They're scouting him as a potential last ditch injury replacement during the season.
For whom though? He is a specialist who doesn't match up with any of our receivers except Gronk in the red zone. Due diligence for that? It's pretty far out if true, like really a thorough move to make. It's like Coach of the Year crazy around here.

I suppose they also may be thinking of a whole new direction for the red zone offense like twin towers. This is a little whacky to think about ...

You're right. I hope he doesn't put a "gun to the heard" of the Pats brass, in an attempt to get a contract. ;)

No thanks.
I'll see your Plaxico and raise you an Ocho.

No, I'm sitting back and waiting to see how it develops without really gaming it one way or the other. I think that if Josh envisions a twin tower red zone offense that would produce more points, and they can account for the roster spot loss, I'm going to be on board.

But playing OC I can see some threat to chemistry here, and would limit this inquiry to a due dilligence for later emergencies. But really, it's a Gronk emergency that we're talking about. And actually Burris can't run the field like Gronk so this is just a red zone effect that he would bring.

But red zone is not fluff yards in the middle of the field, so ....

They can't sign Plax!
We didn't even have a "Should the Pats sign Plax" thread!

Plax is our team means he's not on Miami's... BB is a diabolical genius

Re: Patriots to Work Out WR Plaxico Burress

Sign him, this offense would literally be unstoppable with Plax. Score on every drive kinda team.

I don't like the idea of signing him, but if it's purely as a red zone target, then he could have some value. He can't really do anything else at this point, though, so he's probably a little limited to earn a roster spot.

I think we are a better team if he is playing for the opponent instead of us.

Can he protect the passer?
