I didn't think it'd be our secondary completely collapsing and giving up 360 the first game.
Again - to Geno. We haven't changed at all from last year.

The entire team decided to shut down and say the game is beyond reach in the 2nd half.

Drake needs to master the offense, remain calm in the pocket, and get his footwork in order. That's a lot. Before this mess, I would probably have said I'm sure he can accomplish all of these. Now I only think he can, but I can't say I know he will.

Other than that, what happened to the run game? Is Rhamondre just plain shot? Maybe.

The only positive is a confirmation that the o-line has a shot at being...average (which is better than last year). I didn't really see any other "positives."

I hear ya pal. But look at what the raiders have on offense and all they could muster was 20 points. Defense played well enough to win.. offense laid an egg in the second half.

IF the L's keep up Vrabel will look like he's 70 before we know it.
I wouldn't worry to much twin.. when's the last time a patiots team could say they had a 100 yard wr, defense had multiple sacks... LVR should have had 40 on us with that offense.

Not gonna lie, this is concerning. Hope it’s nothing….

Luckily Raiders corners aren’t good so if there’s time to throw matchups favor NE.
That's what they want. Passing plays, Bradbury is the weak link target. Beat him like a drum, matchup matchup matchup. Then beat up Moses late in the 4th, too old to keep up. Play games with Wilson and Nasty also when Maye has to throw. Maye will get rattled, trust me. 20 -13 Raiders. Bumming me out but that's what gameplanning is all about.

BTW, I called the final score

I gotta say…

This team does not look better than last year’s team at all.

And that’s saying something.

If this team loses to Miami, it could get really ugly this season as I don’t see another W for a while.
Agreed and yes they look like a carbon copy of last year….. tackling issues, sloppy secondary, a little better pressure on QB but not much…..and offense about where we left off last year…hopefully they right the ship if not it will be a long season!

I wouldn't worry about Drake, he didn't have the best game we know. But the idea is getting better each week. This is good for him as he continues to grow as a player. The defense played well enough held them to 20 points. Alot the team can work on and alot ot be encouraged about.

Defense had pressure all game posting multiple sacks and the offense produced a 100 day from an actual wr. Raiders offense is legit and we were down our best player.
He's basically 1-10 in games he's thrown 10 or more passes and just put up 10 points against a bad Raiders defense.

You should worry, we're in the winning games business if this team wins 4/5 games Drake will have a W-L record that basically no QB who turns out to be good ever has 2 years in.

I think the secondary got hampered by **** pass rushing

In the first half, some blitzes worked. In the second half we dial those back, and our front lineman couldn't do anything

Milton and Barmore should have been better. If we cant get any penetration, why are paying 50M on the Dline?

Brady led the league in TD in 2002. Doubtful Maye will.
It's a long season.. week 1s can always be misleading sometimes. Drake is a much better QB than what he did or didn't do in the second half. We held a potent raiders offense in check with 20 points without our all pro CB.

Miami will take their offensive woes out on us next week, or we’ll beat them easy, I don’t know any more
Game is in Miami and Pats rarely if ever play well there…..next possible win is against Carolina

I went 24 17... I was quite disappointed that the offense had 1 more point than three field goals.

I thought the pats would be good for at least 2 tds... which would force the raiders into 3 td territory

Im pretty disappointed in the pats offense today.

I hate to say it, but based on the on-field plays of Maye's career so far, there is nothing to suggest he has the mental killer instinct to really run a NFL level offense. All it's ever been with him was "dual threat, very talented, good arm".

But, that's the bio for half the QB's coming in, and most flame out.

I guess I'm just not sure Maye will be the future. In fact, I think DeVito would have played better in this game today.
Not saying Maye can't figure it out, but he was timid and slow in recognizing - and mostly - inaccurate and not clutch.

I wouldn't worry. This raiders defense is pretty solid with Carroll. You can use those stats should you choose. However it's a tale of two halves.. the kid made big time throws to put his team in scoring position. He missed throws in the second half. Each game is different. Of course we should and could have won as the defense minus gonzo played pretty well. On to Miami..

Disappointing result.

THE GOOD:
Boutte had a strong game with 6 catches for 103 yards on 8 targets. Watching his progression from his rookie year till now has been nice to see. Reminds me a bit of David Givens progression but Boutte may be a bitter better.

Landry had a good game with 2.5 sacks. Nice pickup.

First Half Defense: After the first possession, the defense shut them out and looked good in doing so.

Gibson in the return game. Gibson was our best RB last season and now with the addition of Hendersen has been reduced to just special teams a few snaps on offense. I like Hendersen but he's essentially the same player as Gibson. That was a bad pick. We needed more help along the OLine.

THE BAD:
Second Half Defense: Too many breakdowns and big chunk plays allowed. The expectation is for the defense to be stout and carry the load while the offense finds its way. That didn't happen.

The offensive line. My fear heading into this season is that we didn't do enough to improve the OLine. Would have liked us to trade down and draft two OT's with our first two picks. Maybe Josh Simmons and Ersery. Today we couldn't run and WC was brutal down the stretch allowing strip sack and the crucial false start. Not good enough.

Pop Douglas' stat line: 7 targets, 2 receptions, -2 yards. Pop did score our only TD on one of those catches but we need more production from the slot. I'm putting Pop on notice. Do better or fan favorite Chism is going to take your position.

Hollings. A total non-factor in the game. When we needed a spark, there was nobody there to provide it. I'd rather see Chism active and given an opportunity than what we saw today.

Rookie Kicker: 40 yard FG's need to be automatic. Those 3 points might have changed the outcome of the game. Instead of being down 10 on our last drive, we would have been within a TD of tying up the game.

THE UGLY:
The inability of the front office to adequately address the the OLine over the past two years.

THE ENTIRE SECOND HALF......On both sides of the ball.

NOT GOOD ENOUGH

Disappointing performance but figured theyd be prone to a slow start this year. Hopefully miami is truly worse than us

Biggest concern is maye right now. Looked bad in preseason and really bad today. Hopefully just a matter of settling in to a new offense but until that happens this is a worry. I can live with the team having a rough first year but you wanna see maye show something.

Couldn’t run nearly as well as i thought they could

Terrible decision to punt with 5 mins left.

Pop is a slot receiver. He should be catching more than one ball. I think we should be giving Chism opportunities.
Pop wasn’t good today.

Maye was the biggest reason we lost this game. Completely killed our momentum. Take a 17-7 lead and this game was over. Maye isn’t a winner. He shrinks when the moment gets bigger. He is at his worst when it counts
